Multiple accounts on console = multiple CMDRs?

Perhaps one of our XBox brethren can help here? Has there been any comment about how multiple PS4 accounts on a Console interact with the single save rule? I do not see any comments about this in the current PS4 FAQ.

My PS4 has an account for myself and kid. We use that to play Diablo 3 together. I suspect that I/we could start separate commanders, one for each account on the PS4. It would give us an option to do something else in gave to avoid space madness while out exploring ;)

On Xbox you simply use (or create) a second gamertag. Then when you launch ED via that second gamertag you are prompted to create an account with Frontier. Create an account with Frontier using a different email ID to your main account and you're sorted. Hopefully PS4 users should be able to do the same.

Two gamer tags will work on a single copy of Elite for PS4? I'm genuinely curious how that works with Playstation.

2 unique PSN login ID's/gamertags, and 2 unique Frontier login ID's. That's how it works on Xbox at least.

There were a few issues initially when Horizons first launched where the second gamertag was unable to access Horizons content, but was able to access the base game, but Frontier sorted these out.

But do you need 2 copies of the game, one for each gamertag?

Without knowing exactly how Sony and Frontier will implement the game, it is a bit of guesswork but as a digital downloader, I have identified the console as primary console which has meant my digital downloads can be played by my daughter on her login.
I would assume the Elite would be the same. The only issue would be if the game needs ps+

My understanding is that the game requires PS+ if you wish to play either in Open or Private Group but not Solo mode. How it would work if the main account on the PS4 has PS+ membership but secondary accounts do not, I have no idea. On Xbox there is the concept of Shared Gold Membership on the same Xbox meaning you only need one gamertag with Gold to allow all other gamertags on that Xbox to play as if they were Gold members in their own right. I'm not sure that PS+ works in the same way or not.

I have two PS4's this is how it works! Family Sharing: Only one console can be used/named you primary. The owner of that console "me" has PlayStation Plus. Any one who plays on my Primary console "hooked up to living room TV" has access to my Plus Account and any games I own. I let my Grand Daughter play on it. I play on a second console that can not be registered as Primary "only one Primary console per person". No matter what console I use I have access to my Plus account and all my games I purchase. I play on that console connected to my PC monitor. I bought MineCraft for her to play on my PS4 she and I have played together several times using Family Share play on 2 PS4. Yes both Xbox and PlayStation work the same way.

WARNING! On PlayStation please do NOT try to set this up with friends it is intended for use only with Family in the same household. Using it with friends is against Sony's TOS "terms of service" and Dangerous. I have seen so many post from PS4 users saying their account and console was banned and they loss access to all their digital games on the PlayStation Forums. Or people who lost their accounts to so called friends they were sharing with when this friend locked them out of their own account by changing the password on the account. Even loss of credit card info because account info is on the primary consoles. Do not game share with friends not only is it illegal, it's against Sony's TOS for your protection from theft also!!

I have one PS4 with two users set up,one for me and one for my son.
Will my son be able to play on his account, with one copy of the game?

I've been thinking of setting up a new account just so I can have a more "dangerous" commander name. When Drew Wager puts me in his next book, I don't want it to say "CMDR Old Duck saved the galaxy." No, it should read, "CMDR Tyranus Skywing saved the galaxy!" Or something like that.

I wonder what the Latin word for Duck is...

ps - Tyranus Skywing is mine!!!!!

my son and I have the same set up and can share every game I have so far so don't see why it wouldn't work with ED..obvs cant play at the same time ;)

Wait a minute, I've spent a couple of dozen hours coming up with a CMDR's name that I believe will depict my intended style of play. But because my PS4 account login isn't the same, I can't use it. That Sucks!

Does anyone know how to change their PS4 login in name and still maintain their library of paid for in full games?

You can't but if it on the same PS4 as your main account it should have access.

Do any of you guys actually read the official FAQ?

Posh. Next you're going to recommend that we read the manual and play the tutorials before setting off.

The reason I use an alais is because supposedly as I have explained to to my wife on numerious occasions; Real men don't need no stinking maps, manuals or tutorials. LOL
