Multiple Cmdr's.... same account.

Because it ruins any sense of challenge.
I'm currently out on the northern edge of the Galaxy, some 60 odd thousand ly from Sol. I have to watch fuel and mats for fsd synthesis. If my bubble account was able to collect mats and my explorer account could use them, then there's no *real* need for an SRV out here (racing with other players is fun though), and a massive reduction in risk etc.
Do a search for 'end of the road' in the explorer forum.... Having shared resources would mean that kind of story would never occur.

I *did* buy a 2nd account during the Christmas sale.....non horizons. Haven't put more than a couple of hours in though, mainly due to lack of time. Sharing ships between the accounts would be nice, but credits, mats etc should be a no no in my opinion (although once you share ships I guess you've shared credits...)

All I really want is:
* easier access to load the alternate account (no hoops like creating a new profile or logging out and in.... Just let it be selected from main menu so it's streamlined)
* shared store items (on the surface this would appear to be a financial 'loss' to FD and versus buying the same thing for both accounts, it is. But I won't buy twice. And actually, the lack of sharing reduces my desire to buy *at all* so in actual fact, sharing cosmetics would *increase* my likelihood to purchase. YMMV)

Who said anything about sharing Materials?? According to the Lore, the materials you have on hand are kept with you (presumably in a lock-box) in the cockpit, so that when your ship is destroyed they are rescued with you. OBviously, if you had 2 CMDRs on your account "sharing" resoures, you wouldn't be able to share the ones that are currently with the OTHER CMDR, such as the ship they're flying, the materials they're carrying or and data or cargo. They'd share the same credit bank and have access to the same ships. That's it.

But just having it so 2 completely seperate characters are on the same account would be fine, too.

I also would like to have multiple commander slots.

Most games on the market have this feature, but since it wasn't included when Elite was designed I'm not sure they will be able to add it in?

But it's a whole new different account that you'd have to pay full price for right? I mean, I aware that that is an option, just it's not a very good one in my opinion. Your account isn't linked, you can't transfer between account and let's face it, if you are going to pay the current non sale going rate on Steam, it's going to cost you big bucks.

I play on the PC.

All three platforms can support unlimited commanders with a single purchase by using "family sharing" features.

Just create a new Steam, XBOX, or PS4 account with a unique email.

Then on the PC you can share your Steam library with your new account and start the game over for free.

The down side is you can't share inventory or cosmetic purchases :-(

NOTE: I have purchased two copies of Elite on XBOX and PC, and one on PS4, but also has tested the above and know it works.

This game is about one player flying One ship.

This is your opinion.

Many of us have multiple commanders located all over the galaxy.

And I almost always play in a Wing.

If you want to go play MMORPG that support ideas like this. Go play them.

I have a more sensible idea: You play the game the way you want to, and we'll continue to request features we want.

You make good points, but why force people to grind a second time if they don't want to?

If I do everything required to buy and outfit an Anaconda with a 60ly jump range with my first commander, why can't I fly that to Colonia with my second commander?

It's still me? And I did earn it? Shouldn't I have access to it with my Alt?

Doing so does not stop me from buying a totally un-linked account and starting over (which I've done 4 times already)

I'd be happy if they did this EITHER you could buy a second CMDR slot and you can share resources between the two (for instance, CMDR Alpha is off exploring in the AspX and CMDR Beta is BHing in the Viper)

I don't think Frontier would want to have an account share Resources. Because they should be considered two separate accounts.

How lame would it be if you are able to farm Resources on one account in the bubble to give to another account that in deep space? That would not be a good idea.

Why not? it's been the benchmark for every MMORPG since the genre was invented. Why should Elite Dangerous be any different.

Seems I'm not the only one to read 'resources' as everything including materials. Seems we're on the same page though :)
