Because it ruins any sense of challenge.
I'm currently out on the northern edge of the Galaxy, some 60 odd thousand ly from Sol. I have to watch fuel and mats for fsd synthesis. If my bubble account was able to collect mats and my explorer account could use them, then there's no *real* need for an SRV out here (racing with other players is fun though), and a massive reduction in risk etc.
Do a search for 'end of the road' in the explorer forum.... Having shared resources would mean that kind of story would never occur.
I *did* buy a 2nd account during the Christmas sale.....non horizons. Haven't put more than a couple of hours in though, mainly due to lack of time. Sharing ships between the accounts would be nice, but credits, mats etc should be a no no in my opinion (although once you share ships I guess you've shared credits...)
All I really want is:
* easier access to load the alternate account (no hoops like creating a new profile or logging out and in.... Just let it be selected from main menu so it's streamlined)
* shared store items (on the surface this would appear to be a financial 'loss' to FD and versus buying the same thing for both accounts, it is. But I won't buy twice. And actually, the lack of sharing reduces my desire to buy *at all* so in actual fact, sharing cosmetics would *increase* my likelihood to purchase. YMMV)
Who said anything about sharing Materials?? According to the Lore, the materials you have on hand are kept with you (presumably in a lock-box) in the cockpit, so that when your ship is destroyed they are rescued with you. OBviously, if you had 2 CMDRs on your account "sharing" resoures, you wouldn't be able to share the ones that are currently with the OTHER CMDR, such as the ship they're flying, the materials they're carrying or and data or cargo. They'd share the same credit bank and have access to the same ships. That's it.
But just having it so 2 completely seperate characters are on the same account would be fine, too.
