Multiple guardian blueprints requrement is wrong in so many ways

You brought a blueprint. One is enough, I don't need 8 of the same blueprints when I'm making something.

Forced stupid grind of that kind is highly detrimental to my time in ED.

42 guardian power cells/tech components/whatever? Makes sense, a tech at the station would need a stock. And all other material/commodity requirements - name the quantity and I will gladly collect it. I understand the need for parts. But I don't need 20 of the same blueprints. I've made the effort, went to Synuefe, did the routine - don't force me to waste time in the idiotic repetitions.

Sandro please, if you want to engage us in your gameplay do it with common sense. Thank you.

This is a prime example of a negative feedback loop. I know absolutely nothing of gaurdians .they are a non thing fer me in the game...avoided like the plague based primarily on all the complaints surrounding their inception. Ill only investigate further when a lot less players are moaning about them, otherwise the salt levels tell one all one needs to know. Which is what I would describe as a negative feedback loop ^

I posted this on one of the other threads but it bears repeating.

I thought I'd look at INARA and see what it takes to unlock ALL the Guardian Technology....

16 Module Blueprint Segment
17 Pattern Alpha Obelisk Data
42 Pattern Epsilon Obelisk Data
123 Power Cell*
116 Power conduit*
73 Sentinal Weapon Parts*
68 Sentinel Wreckage Components*
160 Technology Component*
48 Weapon Blueprint Segment

*Also used in synthesis recipes

You clearly haven't been to a construction site of any sort. Wind blows and tears the sheet. Rain drops and make wet marks, washing the print. Careless worker puts a coffee mug on it to secure plans from the wind, leaving nice brown circle. My house's build plans look like someone used them as a ball for a school football match.

In short - plans as a material object fall under wear and tear. No wonder they should be replaced.

But there are digital plans. I still cannot figure out why we can't simply make a copy via copy-paste. If we are able to store that data, we could easily copy it. Same applies to any data, wake exceptions and such.

But it's a currency, so despite having a digital piece that cen be multiplied ad aeternum we are still required to provide multiple pieces.

One possible explaination that could be put forward is 'Replication' errors, every time you copy digital data you run the risk of intorducing errors, do it enough times and the data degrades into uselessness.

A lot of the engineer (and broker) behaviour makes far more sense if you assume that absolutely none of the stuff you bring them is directly used in the upgrade of your modules. They don't use that Nickel to rewire it, they don't stick a battle-damaged Focus Crystal in to make it work better, and they certainly don't pin printouts of DWE up inside the hyperdrive to inspire the hamsters to pedal faster.

What they want is exclusive access to data on FSD Performance, wear and tear of focus crystals in combat situations, mineral and isotopic concentrations of Nickel on distant planets, so that they can get an edge of their competitors in developing the next big thing. If you try to give them the same Datamined Wake Exception twice, that's no good - they've already got that one. If you try to give it to someone else as well, that's a violation of a non-compete clause in your contract and the 100 billion credit penalty applies.

(There is no satisfactory in-universe explanation as to why rocks of dubious purity and variable isotopic composition are *better* for synthesis than standardised ones you could buy in a shop, though ... but I guess it's acceptable simplification for not having to track "bought iron" and "found iron" separately)

Not that I like repeating content, but I looked at is similar to how you have to have multiple copies of an ancient document to get both enough of the pieces to recreate the entire document and to verify the contents through blemishes and errors by matching the parts that are the same on all copies.

Isn't the description a 'blueprint segment' ?
As in not a complete blueprint, so you need more than one to complete the whole blueprint.

Those aren't Blueprints. They are Blueprint Segments!! Hence a tiny part of a puzzle that, put together, reveals a full Blueprint. I mean, many People complaining about ingame Content (sometimes even me) suffer temporary lack Imagination. But here it isn't even required to have Imagination, as it is clearly written on it: S-E-G-M-E-N-T ;)

Gotta catch them all :D

It's FDev's idea of "Game Play"!
But you never see them really playing do you?
I for one would love to see them live stream doing all the engineers etc... But on second thought, No I would not as I do not have that much time to waste!

Yes, they are blueprint segments. And they are not needed to craft anything, they are just traded for the license to buy a specific product.

Hence, the tech broker's clients are just interested in obtaining as many as possible to study guardian stuff. The rewards are just an incentive to motivate the CMDRs to acquire them.

Personally, I'm currently on a mission to obtain enough as well. I like the idea, just don't like the many bugs associated with them. It's hard to find a landing site for my ASP, the game crashes often in the SRV (often when it is randomly relocated or falls through the floor) and everytime the instance is resetted.
I don't mind fighting the sentinel's either, it's just really annoying when the biggest challenge is to get the SRV upright once it topples over.

And then again the problem that we have only one SRV type and it's not fitted for deep space missions. Rather than having a battery that can be recharged at the vessel or a fusion reactor that uses the same fuel as the ship, it has it's own fuel that is harder (more tedious) to acquire.
Same for the weapons - no lasers that draw from main power, but bullets that have to be synthesized.

Edit: I do like the flair though - I feel like I'm doing something exciting.

I could understand if it was say 5 fragments to make one BP but 18..or what ever the numbers are Ive seen 18 up to 54.thats taking it a bit far.

People are making the same assumption as they did with Engineering. That FD consider having ALL the Guardian items a normal outcome to the players story.

I am sure you are supposed to pick a couple that suit your game most with the resources you have gathered after you have "completed" that part of the Guardian Story. If I am correct, FD need the danglies to clearly communicate that to stop the complaining, or at least give that complaining some context.

(Not claiming to agree or disagree with FDs stance on this, it is a valid concept for them to apply)

I just did collect all blueprints for the FSD booster (for when it returns. You know, Fuel Rat addiction to higher jump ranges and stuff. Irresistible like today's rats to bacon).

Are there better ways to achieve this? Absolutely.
Is it a catastrophe? I think not. I agree that 8 pieces are really a bit on the far side, but manageable. Keep cool.
Plus those sites are really well done in terms of graphics, sound and atmosphere, so I did enjoy it. Plus Guardian Tech is sort of "top notch", getting that should really be an achievement.

Well, but ...
do I actually need every Guardian module? Not at all.
So, do I want to do this for every Guardian module? No.

But as said, I agree that there are better ways.

EDIT: Okay, *if* I got it right that unlocking once is enough to get any number of that module. Otherwise, it would be very stupid indeed. Squeak.

I agree, I just don't understand why the only limiting factor in Frontier's game design is time.
What sense of achievement do you get after 40+ hours of searching for required materials?
Is it a sense of accomplishment and pride, or is it rather an angry sigh of relief "Yes, finally! Never again will I do this damn grind!"?

My 5-year old doesn't think a 18 pieces puzzle is a big one, but granted, he doesn't have to fight his Teddy bear each time for every single Piece he Needs.

As this is a MMO unfortunately we cannot Lever the Level of difficulty of the game to suit our individual taste. We all have to Play in "Standard". There is no way this can satisfy all tastes gameplay-wise. I've had my share of annoying gaming sessions as well (weird for some, but the Guardian grind wasn't part of them). There are no games that provide an enjoyable experience all the time (or they are short-lived easy peasy games). Id' say read a book instead if you don't like it, but even books are not always equally enjoyable through all chapters, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nice Theory.

Sadly it does not hold up. I'm nearly done with the mission. I got one module blueprint and four weapon ones (should be 3 but we cocked up and redid one already scanned).

So I can unlock the gauss canon, and only because I messed up.

Tell me again, which guardian module should I unlock with my lone blueprint ?

Yeah :/

Note that I don't disagree with the idea that all the modules should not all get unlocked with the mission. But say 3-4 of them would be reasonable for a 12h+ mission.

For that the cost in blueprints would have to but cut down by like a lot. 1-3 blueprints per item at most.
