Murder and data farming in anarchy settlements in non-anarchy systems - Colonia

I see your solicitation in the Exchange thread; thanks for looking out! I'll keep it in mind if I don't find what I need.

Also, I mean to ask what the best method is for farming data, a la Dav's Hope for those other things; collect, relog, repeat. If none exists, then my direct-answer-needing brain would appreciate it if that could just be plainly stated ;)
To give a perfectly clear answer - there is not an equivalent of Dav's Hope for Ody engineering materials and data. Partly because of the mechanic where you need to leave and return to respawn loot, partly because of the rather large randomized drop tables that make it almost impossible to farm a specific drop in a targeted way. And since you can't trade data and have a global inventory cap, it doesn't help to fill up on stuff you don't need.

Restore/reactivate missions are probably the best current method. Especially if they target tourism settlements, as they have a large number of data ports.

Oh. I didn't know that.

Are the Colonia engineers significantly easier to unlock?
Just slightly. ;)

Colonia - 4 engineers:
  • Friendly reputation with the Colonia Council.
  • Visit 5 settlements in the Colonia system.
  • Provide 10 Faction Associates data.
  • Provide 10 units of Manufacturing Instructions data.
  • Provide 10 Digital Designs.
  • Sell a total of 10 Culinary Recipes or Cocktail Recipes to stations in Colonia.
Bubble - 9 engineers:
  • Reach Unfriendly reputation or lower with Sirius Corporation.
  • Travel at least 100 light years in shuttles.
  • Complete 6 Covert theft and Covert heist missions.
  • Complete 10 Restore or Reactivation missions.
  • Complete 10 surface conflict zones.
  • Provide 5 doses of Push.
  • Provide 5 units of Genetic Repair Meds.
  • Provide 5 units of Surveillance equipment.
  • Provide 5 units of Insight Entertainment suites.
  • Provide 15 Settlement Defence Plans.
  • Provide 15 Financial projections.
  • Sell 8 Smear campaign plans to bartenders.
  • Sell 10 Opinion polls to bartenders.
  • Sell a total of 20 Biological sample, Employee genetic data and Genetic research to bartenders.
  • Sell a total of 25 Multimedia Entertainment, Classic Entertainment and Cat media to bartenders.

Oh. I didn't know that.

By all accounts yes.

Good to know that there is good alternatives to anarchy farming since as one of the aforementioned player group trying to do stuff there, this is a bit of a nuisance. As I've said elsewhere, if anyone is determined that they're going to go to an anarchy faction installation for this, please try to leave the place in a state for the next person- a couple of missions or something like that to offset things would be lovely.

You never know- we might be able to bring back the Federation and Alliance ships if you don't trash the place too much.

Thanks!
Yes, but the OP is in Colonia, he don't need none of those. ;)
Still good to know. Especially if it also applies to Colonia engineer unlock data, which I assumed it does. ;)

It does, partially.

The faction associates data and recipes, I believe are not given as mission rewards, so you'll need to scan data ports for those. MI and DD can be found either at data ports or as mission rewards, but probably mission rewards from allied factions is the faster way to get them. I believe every data material that you actually spend on engineering upgrades, is possible to get as mission rewards too.

Once you get the hang of running missions for rewards, you'll probably find that the rate-limiting element to your engineering is goods like weapon schematics and power regulators, which you need in large quantities but don't drop in many places and are fairly rare as mission rewards.

Recipes are nasty.

I found only 3 in Colonia while doing zounds of missions.
2 of them i certainly got in agri settlements. the 3rd one was extraction/industrial or something.
not a single one in touristic settlements

Still good to know. Especially if it also applies to Colonia engineer unlock data, which I assumed it does.
I picked up 3 cocktail recipes on the day the Colonia engineers were introduced. Not one of them was provided by an anarchy faction. Truth be told, I have never farmed anarchy bases and have picked up all my unlock materials from normal misisons, many from restore / prepare or Settlement raids to clear scavs...

I also am one of the players working to keep Carcosa & The Nameless afloat, but, again, bounties and notoriety are no issue to me, probably as massacres bring them along as part of the mission, notoriety fades off quickly enough is one is just playing.

The supporters of The Nameless in Carcosa have been engaged for a goodly while in being a thorn in the side of the "Rulers of Colonia"(1) and will continue to do so - should said "rulers" be removed from power the nebula would once more have some Federation ships and the Type 10 available to purchase... Removed when the "rulers" decided that this anarchy system needed to be put under the "protection" of a Dictatorship...

Edit: added "possible" & removed redundant "once more"

Just tank the notoriety. The good thing is that is does not go over 10. It is a game. Much easier. You might even have fun. You are a murderhobo.. KIlling anarchist does not change that. It is what it is.

Man.. Once I'm done unlocking foot engineers in the bubble I think I'd like to head back out to Colonia and have some fun at the expense of these "rulers"

I missed the big anarchy uprising out there the first time that happened quite a while back.

I suppose it's less an uprising, more a resistance now. Two and a half years later we're quite comfy with our feet under the table. Do come up and say hello though. Some things may have changed, but there's still every chance you'll find us around the system somewhere if you're in open.

Nice!
May come over to Colonia, after my upgading goals are reached in the bubble & my game style needs something to do..................being a 'thorn' may be my new chosen career ;).
As an Independent Pilot I'v never played around with Factions or the BGS before, may require some pointers though on how to be an annoying little :poop: to them:ROFLMAO:
