Must have downloaded the wrong beta...this ones called 4.0

I've actually said this when there were a bunch of negative nancies talking about how much money FD was allegedly funneling into Planet Coaster's development from ED (which has never been proven)

It's quite possible for them to use that same engine in order to channel development resources into ED- if that's the plan then all the better. That said, we could reasonably have BOTH Space Legs and Atmospheric Landings- complete with other things (plant life, buildings, etc.).

Why some people feel the need to suggest that FD's resources are "limited" for ED just because they have a separate game(s) they are working on is Beyond (pun intended) me. There's no "exclusion clause" that I'm aware of stating that the two departments can't work together within the same company, after all.

this is an obvious production line, if someone doubts it - he's blind

Atmospheric flight model. There, done. Considering the core point of ED is flying spaceships, flying them under different circumstances is the gameplay.

Sadly you (and some others) having sensible requests doesn't make that the general consensus :/

my armchair developer opinion is that atmospheric flight isn't a solution to your various complaints about the game.

Possibly but:-

It's not going to make combat more exciting
I do this so rarely that when I do, I find it fun. But I do agree that combat zones and res sites need a serious boost.

It's not going to make trade more fun.
I very much enjoyed the new trade tools in beta, so that is already more fun to use.

It's not going to make traveling to destination to destination fun
I really like supercruise, so not an issue for me.

It's not going to make mining fun.
No it won't. But the new mining update may do in Q4.

It's not going to make engineering (crafting) fun
Ere, not too sure what to say about that except I find the new system much more fun then the previous.

It's not going to allow players to contribute real in-game content
Not too sure if that is even relevant. Maybe the Squardrons and fleet carriers will do.

It's not going to make Fdev's internal consistency with their narratives and the gameplay good.
But it shouldn't make it worse.

It's not going to give you roles for you to role play in a way beyond just inside your own head.
Possibly not. But really that is down to the individual.

It will be interesting for players and explorers for a few days and then due to everything above, it'll be expensive eye candy.
Is that an issue. I also suspect with the big exploration update the gameplay will be more involved. I would prefer to wait till Q4 update before passing judgement.

So my professional armchair opinion is to work on the foundation and make the game more fun and engaging first, then think of adding more places to have that fun than the near infinite places we already have available.
Which is what they are doing. Trading is much more interesting with the trade updates. Mining and Exploration are getting big updates in Q4 as is group play which pretty much sorts most of your issues out if they are good. All they need to do is get rid of Multicrew telepresence and a lot of the internal consistancy will be sorted out.

I tell you something, though, this 4.0 rendering is almost photorealistic... This is some backwater farming world I managed to land on.

To be frank, I was disappointed that the animal's AI was lacking. Despite the noise of the thrusters, the animals continued grazing nonchalantly rather than fleeing for their lives.

I have already submitted a bug report.
