I'm not sure if this has been covered or not but I will post this here to see what the Elite community as a whole think.
Much needed changes to combat...
1: Enable players to *TAG* other players as friendlies, enemies or allies.
Friendlies would be any Commander present whom you know to be non hostile.
Enemies would be Commanders you know to be hostile - excellent for immediately becoming aware of their presence during the heat of battle. They would show as red right away.
Allies would be green and could become alerted when other allies in the vicinity are attacked. This would be excellent for factions limited otherwise by wings. This would also work very well in large combat scenarios to avoid confusion between friend or foe... which leads to my next suggestion.
2: Prevent stray fire from making you hostile/wanted. Friendly tagged, enemy and non tagged players and NPC's in general should take a sustained 3 second burst of *TARGETED* and *DELIBERATE* fire for this effect to take place.
Allies could allow for friendly fire, giving the commander full control over this factor.
3: Allow players to drop into low wakes a little further back to allow for players who wish to offer assistance to a friendly or ally a greater chance at intervention on their behalf. It can be frustrating getting there too late to help.
4: Introduce a focus button. Holding this when facing a target could open up an additional sub context menu that allows for quick decisions. For example, when targeting a space station, allowing for a docking request or docking cancellation.
This could be a quick way to allow tagging, also. Target and face a player, select friendly, enemy or ally with the D-Pad. You get the picture...
5: Allow fighters to dock at outposts. Fighter menu, request dock in fighter, dismiss ship. Good for bulletin board access/mission handing in.
6: NERF THE HEAT CANNONS. Lol.
7: David Braben to offer missions called *Braben's Choice*. New format of CG.
. Lol.
Add to this, guys and girls.
