Must needed changes to improve the Elite experience. Please share your opinion and ideas inside.

I'm not sure if this has been covered or not but I will post this here to see what the Elite community as a whole think.

Much needed changes to combat...

1: Enable players to *TAG* other players as friendlies, enemies or allies.

Friendlies would be any Commander present whom you know to be non hostile.

Enemies would be Commanders you know to be hostile - excellent for immediately becoming aware of their presence during the heat of battle. They would show as red right away.

Allies would be green and could become alerted when other allies in the vicinity are attacked. This would be excellent for factions limited otherwise by wings. This would also work very well in large combat scenarios to avoid confusion between friend or foe... which leads to my next suggestion.

2: Prevent stray fire from making you hostile/wanted. Friendly tagged, enemy and non tagged players and NPC's in general should take a sustained 3 second burst of *TARGETED* and *DELIBERATE* fire for this effect to take place.

Allies could allow for friendly fire, giving the commander full control over this factor.

3: Allow players to drop into low wakes a little further back to allow for players who wish to offer assistance to a friendly or ally a greater chance at intervention on their behalf. It can be frustrating getting there too late to help.

4: Introduce a focus button. Holding this when facing a target could open up an additional sub context menu that allows for quick decisions. For example, when targeting a space station, allowing for a docking request or docking cancellation.

This could be a quick way to allow tagging, also. Target and face a player, select friendly, enemy or ally with the D-Pad. You get the picture... :)

5: Allow fighters to dock at outposts. Fighter menu, request dock in fighter, dismiss ship. Good for bulletin board access/mission handing in.

6: NERF THE HEAT CANNONS. Lol.

7: David Braben to offer missions called *Braben's Choice*. New format of CG. ;). Lol.

Add to this, guys and girls. :)

Ooh nice... can we hold off responding to this for a few minutes while I get some popcorn. This will be fun... until it descends into squabbling by about post #10 I suspect.

#1 The ability to "call in favours" with Factions, Powers, Engineers & Super-Powers. Sacrifice Rank/Reputation for some one-off benefit (of which there could be potentially many).

#2 Much better text for Missions.

#3 More options for Crew positions, & NPC Crew to fill those positions!

What say we simply work through the bug list on the next release? JUST CLEAN THINGS UP! I'ld even PAY for it as a new release if they would just pause for a release and get things properly squared away. FIX THE BUGS!

Major stuff (always in your face): Framerate Issues, Sound Issues, Mouse Issues on Commodities Screen, Docking Computer run amok...

Simple/Annoying things: System Map not properly showing mission targets, Courier Engine Sound Overwhelming, CMDRS disappearing in HyperJump...

Tag? LOL you can clearly see Hostiles already - PvP foes who are in Wings are all same.
then...
It's a NO from me.

Are you on XBox?
I'm on PC and I've never seen a single one of these bugs (although admittedly I've not flown my Courier for a while)

You're talking about people who fire upon you or a wing man. I'm talking about people you want to recognise as hostile all the time. So when you're in the res and a yellow random target shows up you're unaware of in the busy mix who happens to sneak close by and sucker punch you with torpedoes... following? But OK, your opinion is noted.

Another Friendly fire Post. Learn combat discipline. Use what in front of you. RADAR, SOUND and what in front of you. If you see a ship that clean. STOP shooting. Spray and Pray is not a skill.

Now being able to tag ship and change color for friend and foe. That not a bad idea.

Have you ever been in a huge PvP battle? Multicannons everywhere. I think it isn't a case of lacking discipline, but having friends of friends turn against one another because they don't know who's who definitely doesn't help matters when you're suddenly labelled wanted and hostile.

Well, in a RES and either BH or Mining and another Player enters your instance rings alarm bells straight away to require a Scan of them - nose to nose ;)
If you did not then you are not watching your radar in the first place. How would you have tagged a player you have never known before and if you did know them as a Ganker/Hostile player then all you should have done is either add them to an ignore list from the History Tab or remember them by name.

You're still challenging an enhancement to the gameplay that has been suggested. I described a scenario whereby it being so busy in the instance on radar, especially if someone is firing off mines or pack-hounds. It can be crazy trying to keep check on all the players that drop in, and allow for a scan of them during the heat of combat when scanning takes some time to complete.

Tagging would be an option that would enhance the gameplay. Surely with respect to allies, you'd at least agree with the friendly fire being allowed?

Would be so nice if it were that simple. When a target throws chaff and your mc's are suddenly shooting at a 45 degree angle to the target, some of us arent so disciplined :)

Take. Your. Finger. Off. The. Trigger.

It's actually really very very simple.

Have ever been driving. Cars everywhere and you have to pay attention to what YOU are doing as well as what other drivers are doing and people and objects that are around you are doing. So no one get hurt. Stop trying to make combat so complex it easy.

I think it isn't a case of lacking discipline,
It all about combat discipline. Knowing when to fire and when not to fire. Knowing where your friends are. That why I say RADAR, SOUND, and what flying in front of you. If it white or Green don't shoot. If it red SHOOT.

but having friends of friends turn against one another because they don't know who's who definitely doesn't help matters when you're suddenly labelled wanted and hostile.
But making the game easier because your not using everything dose not help players like me who know what to do. Who know when to fire and when not to fire.

It also depends if you use fix weapons or not.

Well holding on the tigger dose not help you much. That when you need to go oh I see chaff and take your finger off the trigger.

SPRAY AND PRAY DOSE NOT PAY.
