My 2.2 Experience In The Skinner Box

First, there's a bug where I can't open the system Map. Bad, for explorers like me, and I'm not the only one having it. Bug and ticket filed.

Then, missions began to be less than useful.

So, I'm down to trade, CG's and combat. Trade is not very profitable for me. The CG's are 90 jumps away for my best combat ships, and they are both combat CG's.

So, the Skinner box has only one option: Kill the local pirates at the local watering holes.

Combat uber alles. Thanks, guys!

Apart from the map bug, the only one really stopping you from doing anything but kill pirates is you. You can invest in a hauler and do more trading, you can still do missions for the rep even if they aren't that profitable, and personally, I'm making the 90 jumps to the Pleiades to do the CG because why the hell not? I've never been outside the bubble before and this seems like as good an opportunity as any to go.

The game can be empty and dull if you aren't willing to invest and just wait for things to be handed to you, but I'm glad that's not what its.

I only have 3000+ hours, so I'm just a slacker with no imagination.

Your application to Squire has been returned with postage due. :(

Holy hades Sarum. 90 jumps away from the Pleiades? Where you coming from?

Mission board is currently a bit strange. I noticed that some planetary stations only offer "Kill skimmers" mission - high paying, but I don't like those missions - nothing else.
Since 2.2 I have to search a bit for nice missions and maybe do the "log around the modes" dance.

But it certainly isn't only combat.

Take a look at the passenger missions, they look quite interesting and some look like they are really profitable. Haven't done one myself, but those "bring X passengers" to station Y look quite relaxed. The VIP tourist missions look like they could be entertaining (but not my cup of tea).

Might sound strange, but maybe upgrading your ship or one of your ships could be a fun way to pass the time. I enjoy it from time to time.

If all this isn't for you, I guess you will have to wait for the next few patches to fix the bugs.

Good luck CMDR

Invest the time to upgrade your FSD, it's really worth it.

Oh, I have drives capable of reaching Maia faster. I just don't like paying the rebuys for replacing them, and the ship I lose in the process.

The nice, expendable combat ship has a jump of about 14 light-years (which it seldom reaches). There is a good fuel scoop, of course, but it will take the better part of a day to reach Maia- and stay there doing nothing else for a week.

I can make more at the local watering holes.

A big bowl of Russian Potato soup, on the "other end" of the bubble. I selected it as the furthest I could have a viable home system, while not having to travel far to (then) mostly unexplored space. Power point re-enforced my desire to stay away from the core- and to have a system not affected by lockdowns, CG's, etc.

Which Grom's boys have begun building a Quik Trip about two blocks over from.

Now I have Roundboy, Hudson, and Grom all competing within about 40 light-years of Borscht. Grom is targeting Wacky Bird (1 shipyard), one of my "last exits" before entering more densely populated space. Vannah White (3 shipyards) will be inside it's sphere, so two of my allied systems get eaten. So will a system with a pristine GG ring. Not happy.

Frontier will be highly unlikely to kill off their pet player faction,so I expect greatly increased PP stupidity.

Not happy.

How on earth can your best combat ships be 90 jumps away from the CG? My FDL is parked 415LY away from Maia and when I checked yesterday it would be 30 jumps to get there. The bubble isn't three times that wide, or wasn't last time I checked.

Never mind, you posted whilst I was typing. Even so, have you engineered your combat ships FSDs? If not, I'd say it would be a way better use of your time than anything else considering you only have to do it once

Never mind again, you answered that in an earlier post.

Know what? I'm out lol.
