My "Adventure" and a "Support Mission"

Walking around a station while someone was moaning..

"Duuude i really need your help, i have money!"
"Ok!"
, i was thinking looking at my billions:
"I will help you for money random guy!" (seriously, he was looking nice. thats the reason)

So i jumped into my thargoid killer T-10 (be prepared) and headed to the station with struggeling power.
While orbital cruising like a boss i was getting a mail from the dude:
"I forgot to mention there a really bad scavengers there who needs to get burried"
"Ok!"
- I was thinking he wants me to kill 0/3 pirate guys.

Flying over the station to find a spot to land and got fined from a station without power.. "Well some bucks to pay, shiny!"
Landed like a boss and droped my srv to scan how many pirates we got there.

~10 heavy armed 3shield bars terminator guys and a viper dropship shipping 4 more to the station..
by a "mistake" i hit the dropship with my srv gun, another fine.. "Oops^^"
And another fine for violating the no fire zone in a powered down settlement.. again i was thinking: "How this thing is fining this like the blocking landingpad stuff without power?"

Got out of my srv after i spottet the PWR Buiding and startet to jump sneaky like batman from roof to roof to sneak into the regulator holding.

Plan: Power up the settlement and let the pirates get shooten down by station defense. Great shiny plan.
So, power gets up and i was grinning broadly !

"Ship under Attack!" - "wait, what?" - The defense drones shooting my srv instead of the scavengers !
Was going out to see if even the defense turrets melting the pirates, right in front of the PWR entrance was a personal defense turret spotting at the bad guys.
Good spot to take cover and melt this pirates away with my G1 AR-50 ! ( still broadly grinning )

Bad guy right in front of the powered turret was waiting for me with his Plasma Sharpshooter thingy
( i stopped grinning ), not even harmed by the turret.

Right after a glowing plasma ball hits my face i was thinking..
"This dude on station.. Its a TRAP!"

- 100.000Cr Fined - Never talk to that "nice" dude again.

I'll point you to this topic :

Essentially, same experience.

You get a fine by simply shooting in SRV/Ship, because it's a no fire zone. Then when you activate the outpost, you are flagged as a criminal scum (for firing the weapons previously mentioned). So the outpost shoot on you and your ship.

I'm fairly convinced this is an elaborate trap by the NPC to lure innocent CMDR, and loot/fine the crap out of them.

This explains why this dude was right next to a criminal who was offering a "not legal" mission..
Now they are sitting in this bar: "Nice Trap Dude!" - "Thank you Tazerface!" :>

Serious questions:

1. Is it new that you get shooten for a fine ? ( also the shoot on the dropship was just a fine )
2. Why is a settlement without power is able to give you a fine for "wrong parking".
3. And why is the settlement defence prioritize a Access Grade 3 Dude with just a fine above pirates ?

That 100.000Cr fine, well just a tip, for me personal.
But when i take my view to a buddy who is just starting over (10 hours in ED now).. For him its alot of money.

First thing I learned was never landing on the landing pad of the station but instead 1km away. Then use the SRV to get to the station but not inside the station because it will get stuck in an invisible "forcefield". Then you do the batman thing and hop from roof to roof. You should be the one who is using the plasma sharpshooter because it is very effective, two good shots at a "harmless" 3shield bar Terminator should terminate him, the first one will burst the shield and the second one will knock him out. But I would rather avoid them, do my thing and then run to my SRV, then get some distance and if the drones are following me because I did something wrong, what you will do 99% of the time, stop the SRV and shoot down the drones outside the no fire zone before they get to your ship, then get back to your ship and hope that the mission is not failed and you get the miserable reward. Remember, you do this for the materials not for the credits, because you really ....REALLY! want to upgrade your suits and weapons because those guys will get "mostly harmless" in the future.

Nah, the legal system of ED is basically "if it's a criminal, shoot it". Loitering ? Shoot it. Stuck in the mail slot ? Shoot it, but even harder. Bump some idiot when docking ? Shoot it. Fart loudly ? Shoot it.
Also, you get fined by burning station for loitering, when you are evacuating refugees. And then, they refuse you the ability to take said refugees onboard "no CMDR, we'd rather see them burn that let them fly aboard a criminal ship !".

The ground part is terribly balanced, especially when it comes to reward. Remember that's balanced around using Apex to. And from what I had, it's basically 26K for a trip, so 56k for back and forth. And you get paid around 100K for those missions. Just shoot a random dude in a rez, and you got 3 times that.

1. No this is normal. Remember, loitering is a crime punishable by death. And shooting inside a no fire zone is worse than loitering.
2. Backup batteries, because loitering is taken really seriously
3. Because you are the criminal, remember, loitering is a crime ...

Thats why you bought at least a sidewinder and equip it with a SRV, and btw, it's cheaper than a gun and a suit.

I know, but it's balanced around apex, so that people who don't want to fly ship can still do missions. Which is why I mentioned that.

And 100k even with a ship for all the hassle of landing and laser cutting, and so on is laughable to begin with.

Hey! 100k is a lot of money, you can get 4 E-Breaches for it. But you do this for the materials to upgrade your stuff, and hell, you will do this a lot because you need tons of materials. I managed to upgrade my Maverick suit to grade 2 and it only took me 12 h to get all the stuff. This is balanced gameplay at it's finest

This situation:
Get a ticket for wrong parking and spotted by the police lady right in the moment she pins it at your windshield.

Breaking News:
Criminal Spotted and shooten down at the risk of life by a brave police officer.
Been in use:
7 Police Helicopters
3 SWAT Teams
42 Officers on Duty

And our brave Channel 6 Chopper !

But well, it`s Elite...
New Players may thinking: "What the "Strawberry" is wrong with this Crime System?" ^^

Yeah but think about it. Why do you do it for mats ? Not for space, it's different. So, for ground mat, so you can upgrade your ground gear, so you can do the mission easier. But for what ? Materials ? See the issue ?
In space, you get more materials, so you engineer your ship, and they are better at exploring, or perhaps they are better at fighting for PvE or PvP. Or perhaps they are better at trading.
There is a loop after engineering in space. So far, I don't see one on the ground. Money is too low. Reputation is not enough for the time. And for explo you don't need ground engineering anyway.

You got it ;)
If I want to make tons of credits I haul commodities from one station to another and I wouldn't need Odyssey for it because it works fine in Horizons. Those 10 billion I have are not coming from nothing, you know. But hauling cargo through space is no fun at all, it's boring.
There are multiple ways to have fun, shooting Thargoids is one of the things I do to have fun, and I am doing this not alone because it is boring after some time. I am in a team of three people ( everything is more fun in ED when you do it with other people)who play together after work, because Sol is in lockdown.
We found out that you better do these on foot missions in a team, one of us is doing his mission while the other one (or two depends on how much time each of us have) is sitting on a roof, using a sniper plasma to do havoc and getting all the attention he can get. If the mission is done the one who is doing it is running to his ship opens the mine launcher and nuke the site from orbit so the other ones can escape.
You better do the "nuke the site from the orbit" thing in an anarchy system btw.

I get it, it sound fun. But how long until the new scent wears off ? You do missions with your friends, yet you can't share them. At some point, perhaps not you and your friends, but a lot of people are going to get bored doing content for essentially no rewards.

That's an issue that will need to be addressed, once the mess that's EDO is fixed.

It is a lot of fun, indeed. And it will wear off after some time, but don't think about it now, get as much fun as you can get for the amount of money you spend on an unfinished demo of a game. And if that means that you're not playing the game the way the developers intended, then it's even more fun. Life is to short, to be angry about the bugs in a game.
Oh, and I am pretty sure they won't fix anything, EDO is a broken thing from the beginning, but you should not care about it too much, because...you know, life is to short, have fun.

Another Point is the amount of materials, yes 15-20 - Upwards Power Regulators to upgrade a suit.. a damn suit.
A whole star system powered down for a upgrade.

All new players i know so far just thinking: "That balancing is just broken!"
This includes: Bounty, Fines & Payouts

Of course, i remember the days as a pirate anaconda pays the bounty of a fuelbill.. but for new players.. damn.
My dude, who just started mades because of bugs and of course "no clue":

~6.200.000Cr Income
~30.000.000Cr Fines

This NEEDS to be adressed. really.

You can buy 10 Cobras for the amount of money of an Artemis suit Grade3 (3,75mil).
There is no balance. We had that discussion last year and they raised the income of bounty hunting last year in Horizons but they forgot to change the message in the top right corner when you shoot a pirate and it tells you today how absolutely laughable the bounty once was. Oh and they also forgot to raise the income for fighting in a combat zone. It seems they did not want you to make more money than 5mil/h or less, and this is one of the reasons I never buy a fleet carrier because you have to throw insane amounts of money (that is, in fact, your precious lifetime ) at this thing and gain more or less nothing.

The threat levels are very inconsistent.

Yesterday I did a threat level 1 crash site mission and there were two mercenaries who were fairly easy to run over with my SRV. Today, similar mission and there were 8. That's ignoring the fact that I couldn't complete today's mission because the crashed ship was underground and I couldn't access the panels. Both days, I was also unable to obtain a power regulator that was underground.

Dear @ULITE, i agree !

The engineering req. & Money for upgrades are "Out of the Point" like this "40 Opinion Polls" for just one engineer.
Its like a Big Wall for New Players who just see the amount of Credits needed, who may have in back: "That ship.. i want to buy it aswell!"

Sometimes i dont even know how our friends from Frontier get this numbers for upgrades.
I shortly listen to the frontier stream where @David Braben said that he plays the game. I like that. But does he really "Grind" ? I dont know :/
There are so many suggestions over the years who was never be adressed..

At some point i know.. "something" will balance. While "something" will still keep out of logic (Like bounty & Fines).

I really hope Frontier starts to take a view at: "How it feels to be a Newbee at Elite".

I really doubt that he is really playing the game, because he also said that he played EDO on his old 2014 PC. This probably gives us a hint how he is playing Elite, it makes it somehow obvious that he is flying his ship from Lave to Tionisla and back to sell a few commodities and then quit, I bet I did more things back in 1988 in the old Elite 8bit game. Flying a ship in EDO from one station to another does not drop your framerate at all and so he couldn't see how messed up his product is.
