Start in non-Horizons?
Maybe you forgot, but you board that ship from a role panel under the radar. It's usually either "Focus+down" or "3" key on your keyboard by default.

I now have a clue what went wrong. Launched game again and it started another update, must have not had all the latest info in the first one from earlier today and scrambled my control settings. After update I am back where I thought I had left off on the edge of the Neutron field vice in the bubble where it planted me after the first update. Hope I can load the old save file and recover the settings.

One more thing, as you probably missed the guardians update - The Role panel has tabs, now, since we can have fighters and crew on some ships, aside from the SRV, so be sure you are in the SRV tab.

Well, I've heard some people losing their bindings file during certain updates.
So perhaps be prepared to the worst and happy re-binding hour in that case.

Any useful way to print out your setup once it is done? I don't mean printing the XML binds file, something that could be used for a quick ref next time you have to fix your config or while playing.
P.s. my old binds files were pretty useless as they were corrupted as well, even the ones that were stored in a folder on a different drive. Pretty lousy the UPDATE is that invasive, will store recovery backups off system in the future.

Just follow the instructions (point to your binds file) and it produces graphical output showing all your bindings.
P.S. don't store copies of your binds file in the same directory as the "live" one - E D looks for the name in the second line of the file and so if you have copies (same name in line 2) - it gets confused and mucks you about.

remember to change the name / description in line 2 of the binds file, that is what it (E D) looks for and what gets displayed in your options / controls / list.
