My first 100k - What should I do?

Well, is your Sidewinder still default? Then upgrade! It's a good little ship.

I'm pondering the same question, though. I'm still flying my Sidewinder, with enough cash to buy a Viper. But I do the to boldly go where no man has gone before thing so... I'm really just travelling with Exploration/Hunting along the way. Whatever ship I buy, I'll sell/leave the other one behind. I would buy an Adder but this one seems to be some sort of rarity. Don't quite know what to do now.

You have lots of great feedback on your post, but you should be asking yourself just one question,

What do you want to do?

If the answer is blow up stuff, then save another 50k and buy a Viper..

If the answer is make more money buy a hauler.

In the end its your choice. Personally I would go down the route of the Viper as you can make some cash doing missions and also have some room for cargo.

Which ever way you choose remember its your game, play it how you want to. Oh and the Viper has 4 gun mounts which can be very deadly

I went the same route - now in my Cobra, my next ship will be the Asp and then hopefully a Python. Might tuck a Viper away somewhere as well because I simply love the noise they make.

Since I basically suck at combat I took on the route of trading and bought the hauler as soon as I could, this upped my jump range and cargo capacity, sold my free eagle to help finance it. I didn't do much for upgrades to the hauler basically saved my credits. As soon as I could I bought a cobra, which I have been slowly upgrading --- I now have 40t cargo capacity a fuel scoop, it is a fuel hog, and a decent credit maker. My goal right now is to get to 1.5M credits, half way there, and park the cobra and trick out an eagle and get better at combat. It will be much cheaper to buy back than the cobra, I have a feeling I'll be doing a lot of that. Then I'll go back to the cobra and when interdicted, instead of running, they will have a fight on their hands

In the end I just bought an adder and put some nice guns on it.

I'm back at almost 90k now, after having done some bounties and simple missions. I think I'll have enough credits for the 300k ship in 4-5 hours.

The adder is nice though! Fast, nice jump range, good maneuverability and good cargo capacity!
