My first Earth-like (and yours)

That's a shame :( I understand why t happens but its sad that something that means something to you has been disappeared.
Is it? Personally, I haven't been bothered by that, especially since it happened because the galaxy got better. The pair's memory remains.
...and hey, my tags do too :D I did come across them before first discovery tags were added to the game, though: we didn't know back then that that's going to be a feature too.

ELW count (and credit balance) have come a very long way since then.

About 3 months into my Elite dangerous career I found my first ELW. Still unmapped accourding to edsm. Not sure if this is actually the first one. It is the first screenshot tho.

After a fruitless tourist mission to the Heart and Soul nebulae, I fitted an Asp and winded around the galaxy in the general direction of Colonia. Eventually, in November of 2018 3304, I found this.

I've lost my old pictures, but this is still my favorite system name for an ELW.

had to search a little to get it ;)
my Distant Worlds imgur album says:
"and at least very near Base Camp 9 my 4th ELW so far on this journey"
(the first three were already discovered ones)

so its from somewhere around February 3302 ;)

hadn't the patience to "hack" the cloaked system name :D
and as I died at BP after the expedition I doubt it has my tag ;)

...but today I went back to this little one:

it's the award winning ELW of Silly Ships 2 and I thought its time to get back to it for a map :)

So I went looking for my old screenshots. The problem is that I've lost all of the regular sized ones before 2017 to a hard drive failure (forgot to backup my screenshots :( ), but I still have the high res shots I took. Turns out I do have a shot of Caer Itar having binary Earth-likes, complete with imaging errors from the feature. According to the file name, this was from 2014. Dec. 03:

So those would be my first tagged Earth-likes.

But I also found some more interesting shots. Here's one from 2015. Jan. 11, of how ELWs used to look back then:

Unfortunately, I don't have any other shot of this one, so I don't know where it is. Seven minutes prior, I was in Lambda Crucis, so somewhere around there. But anyway, I much prefer the new looks.

I have another, with both an orbital shot and a system map, from 2015. Feb. 6:

There's me flying an Asp with 9.5 MCr in the bank: back then, that counted as having been an established explorer. More importantly, it's interesting to see the ELW paired with a much heavier binary WW (not a TC!), that's not so common.
And let's compare how the system map to how it looks today:

Huh, looks like a CMDR Goldrick beat me to selling it, or the tag was overwritten sometime.

Thanks for reading, it was surprisingly fun to play archaeologist for a bit :D

I'm glad you had fun digging through your old memories :)

That was pre-launch, I vaguely remember, from the beta? Back when we could still find untagged things in populated systems. :D
Exploration was a lot more of an exercise in geometry back then. Was it 100 light year routes we were able to plot in those days?

Nope, it was after the beta, during the so-called "gamma": the headstart phase that went from 2014. Nov. 22 to Dec. 16.

Yep, the route plotter went up to 100 ly only. It didn't last long, though: the 1.1 update in 2015. February increased it to 1,000 ly instead. Of course, jump ranges were also much smaller (35-40 ly being the top, the latter only achievable with a completely stripped Anaconda), both of which made navigating sparse areas much more of a challenge.

My first ELW was actually in a system containing 3 ELW's in it (I haven't gotten anywhere near as lucky since). In the screenshot below it is the A9 planet that was first in the expanded tooltip.

Found on the 5th January 2017, several months after I had started playing.

Thanks to EDDiscovery listing screenshots, I was able to locate this old classic, which was taken before I figured out about high resolution screenshots. Also looks like I just took a picture of the polar ice caps; probably won't be getting put on a travel brochure anytime soon

The first screenshot I have of an ELW is from June 2018, Synuefai BJ-U c18-2 A 2 - considering that I play since the pill (with some interruptions), I am pretty sure it's not really my first ELW, but the first on this computer. Any potential predecessors are likely lost with the new installation on this PC (there might be a backup somewhere...)
Just checked, it's still not mapped, even though it's fairly close to the bubble...
