General / Off-Topic My Free Instrumental Album about the Moon

Hello Commanders,

Last week, I released my third free space-themed album is the year. This one is called "To the Moon...", with tracks being based around the Moon (cryptic, I know). Once again, the style is generally "cinematic", but a bit more focus on piano, ambient, neoclassical and spacewave than my previous stuff. I thought it would work well particularly for the explorers (or study-ers) out there.

For the record, I expect at least one more full-length release by the end of the year. (Synesthetic Xenotype II, a continuation of my unofficial space-shooter soundtrack.) Sometime next year I also hope to start on a more specifically ED-themed work. Maybe something partially procedurally generated...

Below are a couple of places you can get it or listen to it:

Bandcamp (free): https://petergagliardi.bandcamp.com/album/to-the-moon

MediaFire (same as Bandcamp download): https://www.mediafire.com/file/ais89zy905qob5x/Peter_Gagliardi_-_To_the_Moon.zip/file

It should also be available on most other streaming services / online stores, including iTunes, Amazon and Soundtrack by Twitch. Here is a link to a few more of them, but when in doubt try searching "Peter Gagliardi": https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/petergagliardi/to-the-moon

I hope that some of you enjoy it, and feel free to use the tracks in any videos/streams - they aren't registered for Content ID so they won't have copyright claims on YouTube.

Great work, enjoying it. Good mix of emotions and vibes.

I've often wondered if some of those chord progressions / moves actually do evoke 'space', or have we all learned to associate them with space, because of Holt and some of the other well established space films / scores etc.

I'll add this to my Elite Dangerous playlist which is a mix of stuff like the Ad Astra (underrated) and Black Hole soundtracks, and cool game music like Mass Effect and Stellaris. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much! Honored to be accompanying you in your travels.

There are definitely chord progressions, chord types and melodies that can evoke the feeling of space; choice of instruments/synthesizers can as well. Even looking at the soundtrack to Elite, there is a bit of both going on. I do lots of experimenting with both until I find the right vibe - it comes faster with practise for sure. And of course, it depends whether you are going for uplifting, calm, dangerous or creepy.

Awesome work, CMDR.

I am not sure if there's a music section in Alec's best of the forum (and elsewhere) [v2], it's worth checking - I personally would hate to see your talent get buried in the archives, so why not message Alec and see if he'll add it in there?
