I am currently acting Head of Department for Computing in a school in the UK and I inherited a bit of budget (even after getting all the next year stuff) so I thought it would be cool to get some Quest 2s.
We can use them in the curriculum but I was also hoping to use them for our revamped sports day. We have tried to be more inclusive by adding esports to the events, for those who aren't into sports and/or might not be able to compete for whatever reason.
Anyhoo. The in-house IT department tried to create the five Meta Facebook accounts but immediately ran into problems because Facebook decides the school email address must be bots.
Dan is the IT guy who has been doing his upmost to set up these accounts. Apparently it takes Meta 24h to reply and Dan has sent photos of himself and his phone, in the school setting, with the Quest app to prove he is not a bot.
Success! One account makes it through their system so we purchase a couple of apps. (Sport day is fast approaching as it is this coming Monday so we need to get on it so the devices are ready in time.)
Next day (today)
The Facebook automated system now decides the account that we bought the two full price apps (from the Quest App indeed) really must be a bot, so has locked it again!
They have blocked a 'bot' that has just spent £35+ on the 'fake' account.
Dan was well flustered by that bombshell!
Meta is a wonderful thing
