They do not float

This is from the expert of a zoo!

Yet despite all these adaptations for life in the water, hippos can't swim—they can't even float! Their bodies are far too dense to float, so they move around by pushing off from the bottom of the river or simply walking along the riverbed in a slow-motion gallop, lightly touching the bottom with their toes, which are slightly webbed, like aquatic ballet dancers.

However they are speed boats in the water take a look!

Yes, i've seen this and it's hard to say who is right, honestly, because I don't trust many sources and i've watched many documentaries where they look to be floating or bobbing up while sleeping for a breath. I'd prefer to see it for myself in real life on a safari. Lol, but beyond that I love this animal, no matter what it can or can't do.
