My realistic wishes for DLCs in 2024

Hello! I wanted to give my thoughts and wishes on how the game could still get another full year of support and new DLCs in 2024. I didn't want to derail other threads, so I created this new thread. I'm trying to be as realistic as possible, which means that my packs will include 1 highly popular animal ("headliner") and some "clones/reskins" or whatever you want to call them. However, I am not including flying birds, or full marine animals or anything else which we don't have yet. In addition, my updates are on the small side (expecting big updates during our 5th year is not a good idea in my opinion).

Fall 2023 - Temperate pack (building set: wood cabin or lodge with horizontal logs) - Main update: hotels
1 - temperate pack.png

The Tasmanian devil as the star of the pack, together with a small deer, a cold biome pig, our first animal from New Zealand and our first bird of the year.

November 2023 - 4th Anniversary update
1a - 4 anniversary.png

I think the squirrel monkey could be easily made from the capuchin monkey and would add a much needed South American primate to the base game.

Winter 2023 - Highlands Animal Pack
- Update: new chairlift/gondola ride with a more realistic and usable design
2 - highlands animal pack.png

The wolverine takes the lead, and I don't think the other animals need any explanation. The exhibit could change, I don't know many suitable exhibit species for highlands.

Spring 2024 - Amazon pack (building set: something like the Disney's Jungle Cruise buildings with horizontal wood style) - Update: orangutans, chimps and bonobos can brachiate
3 - Amazon pack.png

The coati is the star animal, and we get our third South American primate. The giant anaconda could be changed even if I think it fits the current exhibit box size.

Summer 2024 - Old World Animal Pack - Update: Nile monitor can deep dive
4 - old world animal pack.png

This pack brings many of the missing animals from previous packs, such as the baboon, pelican, secretary bird and cobra, as well as some easy to make yet popular animals like the blackbuck, wisent and a new tortoise.

Fall 2024 - Islands pack (Building set: different items that enlarge exisiting themes: Japanese, aquatic, Indonesian, Polynesian...) - Update: Thememaker's Toolkit comes to PZ!
5 - Islands pack.png

A very diverse pack for the diverse islands of the world (tropical, Arctic and temperate islands).

November 2024 - 5h Anniversary update - Since the islands pack missed the Caribbean...
5a-5-anniversary-png.365580

Winter 2024 - New World Animal Pack - Update: custom scenario and animal editor
6 - new world animal pack.png

Here are our missing American and Oceanian friends! Maybe the perentie could be changed for a quokka?

Sorry for the long thread, but with support throughout 2024 we could end the game with 3 additional South American primates, 6 more birds, 2 more habitat reptiles and a bunch of popular mammals. What do you think?

Lots of great choices, and also works really well as packs. I would personally change the yak to the Himalayan Monal and the White-Tailed Deer to a Roseate Spoonbill/Scarlet Ibis to give birds a bit of boost, but that is more of a personal choice, because I do not care that much for yak or the deer.

I think this covers most of the current favourites of the Meta-wishlist. 👍

Bold indicates walkthrough exhibit animals and habitat birds.
Temperate - Blue Jay
Highlands - Andean Condor
Amazon Pack - Scarlet Macaw
Islands - Southern Rockhopper Penguin

Thanks a lot for making the thread so easy to read ! Including images really help. I would personally support all of these additions, with the caveat that I think the Golden Snub Nosed Monkey should be added too.

I would like to see Tundra , Temperate, farm and highland. Hopefully a mountain goat, blacK Bear, Elk, Walrus, Pere david deer will show up. Hopefully we will get our last 23 habitat animals next year.

I would be down for anything really, if only one of those 23 is Père David’s deer 😜
I would be extatic

Like honestly, Pere David's Deer totally suits PZ conservation theme. Its like a conservation miracle like American buffalos.
And it’s an ungulate which makes them even more possible to happen (easy to make filler species).

For some reason it is not super popular on the forum but it’s outstanding conservation story and the status of the only extinct in the wild mammal should be more than enough to put it in the roster.

Also in my opinion they are different enough from the red deer both in appearance and origin.

Père David’s deer is:
  1. 100% Water deer
  2. Distinctly Asian - Endemic to China
  3. Unique hooves for swimming and unusual tail for a deer
  4. Antlers not like any other deer with ability to dress them up with water plants
  5. Beautiful orange summer coat with amazing black stripe on the back
  6. Extinct in the wild
  7. Cover story of all conservation efforts

Sweet!!!! we gotta build up some popularity here, to get this beast into the game.

We called them four look alike
1) Neck like a Camel (some say Ox)
2) face like a horse
3) Horn is like a deer antler
4) Tail's black spot at the end like a donkey.

Swamp or Water Deer would have been perfect, don’t like the animal and dino names based on people
Milu is also known as Elaphure or "sibuxiang" in Chinese, which means "four ways of being unalike (四不像, sì bú xiàng)" due to its unique appearance, with a horse's (马, mǎ) face, donkey's (驴, lǘ) tail, cow (牛, niú)-like hooves and deer's (鹿, lù) antlers. It is one of China's endemic species, in addition to the giant panda and golden snub nosed monkey.

The legend of mighty MILU

More than 4,000 years ago, the King Zhou of Shang ruled the land but people were not satisfied with him and prepared for an insurrection.

To defeat the King, a horse, a donkey, a cow and a deer went into a forest together and practiced to be immortals. They finally succeeded but they found they could not overcome the King and the whole kingdom behind him. Therefore, they transformed into one creature that combined the speed of the horse, the strength of the cow, the donkey's keen sense of direction and the nimble agility of the deer. This new animal then galloped to the Kunlun Mountains to seek the advice of the Primeval Lord of Heaven.

The Lord was astonished at the sight of the creature. "It's unlike any of those four creatures!" he exclaimed. Upon learning of the animal's quest, Lord gave his blessing and dispatched the creature to Jiang Ziya, who was battling the King. Jiang Ziya rode the creature to victory over the King and helped to start the Zhou Dynasty.

After fulfilling its vow, the milu settled in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The animal became a symbol of good fortune and was sought by later emperors who believed eating milu's meat would lead to an everlasting life.
