My ship exploded

Hi i've just logged a bug report and i was advised to ask here for some help.
I had just started a rares run,and was in the orrere system at Guin survey and was coming in to dock.
When there was a loud bang and my ship exploded and crashed.
I was just reading post about falling drones,this almost happened again to me as i was docking at another base and it just missed my ship.
My anaconda rebuy was over 9 million,would be nice to get it back.

9 million? My pythons higher than that, what engineer gives a lower rebuy?

Drop a line to Support they are very good at sorting things out, even more so if it's a known bug.

@yolom, I dont know of any engineer that gives lower rebuys and to add my anaconda can go from cheap as chips to omg that's going to hurt the bank depending on my fit (8.8mill at the moment as I'm way out on the rim.) and yeah my A rated python normally is the most expensive ship in my fleet

Definitively sounds like the refundable skimmer-from-the-skies option, support will help you with that.

Saw one of those the other day, leaving Meuron Terminal in Recua. Nice long spiral out of the sky. Passed it on my way up and out.

I just got complete compensation after submitting a ticket for lost items. Frontier sent me the following email:
"Thanks for getting in touch. We're looking into this skimmer bug as a matter of priority but in the meantime you can avoid them by not using autodock and by slowing your descent into planetary stations, causing the skimmers to collide harmlessly with the ground.
I've restored all credits, data and vouchers lost as a result of deaths caused by this bug.

Please let me know if I can help any further."
I'm not going to dock at planetary stations anymore until the bug is fixed.

no engineer, but in theory one powerplay faction lowers your rebuy considerably

That's one option. Or if your shields are strong you can out run them and nosedive into the landing pad at maximum speed. I prefer option 2 when possible...

Unlikely to be engineered. Just not very well equipped. The OP is concerned about losing 9 million, so it's probably as much as can be afforded.

Or do what I, and many others, do. Come in from a bit further out, instead of dropping in straight over the station/outpost. If you drop out of the glide about 15-20 km away and cruise in, the skimmers will usually have all fallen to their deaths by the time you're close enough to request docking.

I use this method every time, and I've yet to have anything other than errant Sidewinders bounce off my hull.

Though if I were to be completely honest, I'd have to mention thatI might actually be steering towards them, rather than trying to avoid them.

The terrible part is, they don't even die. I think support told me that it's a pathing issue, when they refunded my skimmer kill.

That's just adding insult to injury there. LOL But it makes sense.

You almost have to wonder if someone on the Dev team is sitting at his/her PC, playing a game of their own, where they're firing skimmers at us. Would be interesting to see if Sandro has the high score, or if it's someone else.
