My SOTHIS report - Updated every hour (or not)

Well, I dropped off my MA and still no missions. I'm almost to Rear Admiral and was planning on doing some back and forth to get up there, but I guess that's not happening here. Any other good areas where you can do some back and forth data missions for Fed rank?

Hi Folks,

Just arrived at Sothis. Still fully working. I'm going to report my MILLION credits load here after (oh nooooooo) switching to Open/Solo/Private to get more out of the gold mine.

30. mio. credits stacked transport missions so far. Aiming for around 80 before going back to the bubble.

UA BOMB my butt!

Same. I dont have any problems. Just raking in millions.

Yesterday I finally got to use my 100-ish million Python for Sothis runs. I got it armed, A-FSD and distributor, with B shields and other pieces simply because I couldn't find A counterparts. Well, it's good enough, I find it just like my old Asp, except for the jump range and the firepower (got me 60K credits yesterday from an interdicting Vulture which would have massacred my Asp and which lasted three seconds against 3 large beams and 2 medium autocannons).

I made close to 50 millions for one run. Only one stop was smuggling (18 slaves, 400+ LY away), the rest were perfectly legal. Spent about 30 mins filling the hold, I felt I was extremely lucky with availiable missions. Most of them were the good 8-12 tons, with a couple 24s and one 40. All of them over 150K per ton.

Having a looooooooot of fun, I find the Python GORGEOUS to look at, and on the trip back, I fit fuel tanks and it completely eliminates the need for scooping or stopping, speeding things up quite a bit.

I am currently running out of Haller City, Barnard's Star system, 5 Fed factions and lots of single-hop data jobs and doo-doo delivery jobs, many to the same systems and even the same stations. Making lots of donations too, still turning a profit and grinding Fed rank, with the occasional rares-run out to Sothis and back to break the monotony. :x

Reading this thread really gave me a good laugh. I wont get rid of the feeling that some people (UA Bombers) have a very EVE like mindset: In EVE Online your defintion of fun is denying others the same. Its a salt mine simulator if you will. People will feel superior if they can stomp on others. Luckily Braben knew exactly where EVE was coming from and made a lot of decisions to make Elite a real game and not some psychotic real life mirror. There is enough bull     in IRL, we dont need this behavior in games too. Actually the most interesting part about the arrogant bombers is that they made all people step up and deliver MAs too Ceos. Well played lads.

It's not really anything like EVE. In EVE there is no way a small group could ruin a station used by a much larger number of people. Dedicated griefers like that would have gotten wardec'd over and over and driven totally out of the game.

UA bombing as it's implimented in ED is idiotic as it's impossible to prevent. There isn't a single griefing mechanic in EVE that cannot be countered.

Im aware of this =) I was talking about the motiviation of the UA bombers not about the mechanics involved.

The motivation is salt mining. EVE online is really about territorial control rather than salt mining. Yeah there is a great deal of chest pounding and posturing but real actual pure griefing is actually easy to avoid and fairly uncommon.

Many of the things in EVE that people call "griefing" such as suicide blowing up miners in secure space or suiciding haulers in jita are actaully meaningful ways to make money and that's why people do it - not to just inflict suffering on others.

When I pirated in EVE we'd ransom ships and pods in low sec and made good money doing it - sure some people got salty and and refused to pay filthy pirates - oh well, we got to rummage through their wreckage for shinnies.

UA bombing? No benefit. Pure salt.

Easy to avoid: if you're a vet and know all the scam/grief tactics

Fairly uncommon: just lol. Market hubs chats are full of it, recruitment scams are full of it, highsec is full of it basically

Highsec griefing has a little component of economic warfare, but it's 90% Schadenfreude

Anyone who played EvE for a bit knows this game is a sociopathy simulator. There's also huge RMT going on behind the scenes (hats off to nullsec drones, all the CTAs you respond to, actually make RL money for your allliance officers as they're put up to protect botting areas :^) )

Kudos to Braben and Frontier for having understood that a good portion of the space-sim playerbase has been corrupted by CCP and their Schadenfreude-harvesting, RMT-delving pal players. Pre-emptive design prevents a lot of griefing, and that makes griefers mad. "omg forumdads are risk averse why don't they want to play with us :( :( :("

Not only that: it's also costing them time and money, which it seems, they have aplenty. Lucky them! :)

But there's a way to avoid salt mining: leaving them alone to loose their time as they prefer. They're not getting tears nor salt from me: there are many planets to visit, many markets to trade to, many things to do in Elite, and they cannot block many planets at a time.

So, yes, keep'em coming, champs!

That's the real kicker, it doesn't actually cost them money. They get paid by the station to disable the station. But it costs money to repair the station because the station won't pay you enough to cover the cost of materials to repair it... go figure that one out.

Also, it takes significantly more MAs to fix a station than it takes UAs to break it, yet UAs can be easily re-log farmed and MAs are only spawning in quantities of six out of Maia...

Actually UAS can't be farmed that way.We found all 614 in signal sources

Well, I guess the bombers are still attempting to bring down Sothis, then? Ceos will probably be back up by time they bring it down, and all they've accomplished is encouraging more people to take alloys out there and head back with millions worth of missions.

Incidentally, when Ceos went down I was flying a Python. I now have a 400t hauler build Anaconda that set me back 170mil after the discount in Li Yong-Rui space, and a fully A-rated FDL.

Of course, since harmless Corvettes and Anacondas were apparently such a big issue, the bombers will be pleased to know that now I have a dedicated combat ship I'm up to 22% competent. Thanks for that, guys!
