My SOTHIS report - Updated every hour (or not)

Well no, of course you wouldn't call it that. But then again, you'd call the bombing campaign "game balancing" and "hard work" whilst most people would call it "pointless" and "a waste of time". Terminology does tend to get a little slippery around you. I reiterate my recommendation of a career in politics. Or maybe PR.

I heard The Code is in search for a new PR Manager. Their recent one is really not doing a good job.

What I don't get is the selfishness in this stuff.

"I've got a Cutter and I don't want any more folks with enough money for big ships" is not a mature reasoning for this.

Congratulations, cmdr (minor letters). If you really are responsible for this, you just did a great job in diminishing player base.

Why?

Think about all the not-so-newbies-anymore who are playing for 1-4 weeks and seeing all the big shiny ships around whilst they're getting killed in their Viper Mk IV.

They had the chance to grind a week @ sothis for whatever they liked ship wise. Get a conda. Feel like the king. Learn to fly the darn yacht.

You did not hurt the biggies. I was just there, made 100 million credits so far.

You hurt the little ones. The puppies. The ones without elite combat and trade rank and high exploration ranks and Cutters and experience and being loved by smuggle factions.

Get the point?

I can't find words to describe how dumb it is what you did.

Not really, it is no secret that Sothis is under UA attack. Yes it forces you to get creative and make a choice, there are a LOT of planets out there and a lot to do. Many ways to make cash, if that is your only desire, but also many other ways to enjoy the game. ED is about freedom to play and manipulating the BGS is part of playing the game. Yes we may not all like what is being done but it can be opposed if you like or you can go elsewhere. This is the nature of the game.
.
P.S. I too have kids, a job and limited play time available but I am currently at Jaques(!) It took me several weeks to get out here but it was worth it for the storyline..

Until some rich kid trolls UA bomb Jaques "for the fun" and ruin that too...

How are we hurting the player base?

People do not need these systems. People do not need to make incredulous amounts of money. All thr moaning and whining has done I highlighted the greed and the idiocy of the player base in being unable to think for themselves.

So corrosion resistant cargo racks come for free do they?
How much money have you made out of UA bombing Sothis and Ceos? If you're so altruistic I suppose you all still fly the starter Sideys. I suggest rather than highlighting the greed and the idiocy of the player base you are simply making us all aware of your own childish and selfish mindset.

What you did was push Ceos and Sothis posts to the top of the forums for the best part of a week. I would say you have made them more popular by doing that. As any new player will see the names of these places then read up on them and their eyes will change to dollar signs....

I dont think this worked the way you wanted it to.

I think its quite funny what you've done (or claimed to have done), and you are right to a point that the popularity of Ceos/Sothis is in part due to forum advertising and gold rush mentality its actually been quite entertaining to see it play out.

That is also a good point, I too did exactly what you described and ventured out to take a look first hand but I didn't see the excitement tbh had there been more Fed factions then yeah it would be a gold mine as it is though its just a high value trade opportunity with quite a bit of hassle.

Actually, for the better part of the last week, I've not been the ones bumping the threads. May wish to check your facts there.

It's not hard to find 4k/Ton trade routes inside the bubble that only take 15 mins or less per run.

I don't see a problem.

The long distance run CR/HR reports are usually greatly exaggerated not taking wait time into account.

Earning credits isn't hard, there are many options available.

The long distance runs are OK, but can be more time consuming than often indicated and may not suit players who want more variety in what they do. In the bubble core, I can trade, do some missions, do combat, or anything else without being locked into 20 - 30 min. travel runs.

If someone shuts down something, just move on. They'll get bored sooner or later and eventually move on as well.

So it goes...

Since learning that Meta Alloys do make it more difficult to actually bring a station offline (Michael Brooker confirmed this on Wednesday) we've recognised that although the bombing of Ceos was successful due to us misinforming the community, it has actually made it more difficult for us to take down Sothis as the deliveries of MA will have helped fortify the station; to which we thank the community for banding together (well, the ones that did) and it has proved that thereally are those that are not motivated solely by greed and have somewhat restored our faith.

We will however be back at some point in the future with a more covert operation.

I'd still like to get some kind of more specific info from the devs on exactly how the meta alloy vs UA thing works

We took the decision to admit defeat for now. But most of us have lives and jobs and we can't spend forever battling it out with UAs v MAs. And frankly, getting the Artifacts is a painful test of patience haha.

So, for now, there's a reprieve :)

So basically you lost and now you have to resort to you mundane lifes.

So, your goal is destruction afterall. Here is your quote from a while back:

Now, if people were able to repair it reasonably quickly, we'll accept we misjudged the community and leave it be.

Although Ceos isn't back online... yet... it is not from lack of effort by the community. Heck, have now delivered 1841 MAs by myself. Additionally, as I knew Sothis was your diaper brigade's next target, I took a chance and delivered a bunch there too, knowing another CMDR had dropped off 250 already. My thought was that it could in fact have an immunization effect. Looks like that may have been correct.
.
So not only are we striving hard to get Ceos back online, and in time it will, we thwarted your attempts to take Sothis down.
.
Honour your word. Leave it be.
.
To all other CMDRs, if you have a favourite station, perhaps dropping off some MAs to it will stop this type of action from taking place anymore. When UA bombers find their efforts are having no effect, their actions will stop.

Delayed is more appropriate.

Repd Bro.

Weekend mission....to drop MAs to Ceos. I would love to see her sorted, not to make creds for me but to see a station that helped me able to help others.
