My Spreadsheets bring all the boys to the yard...

Unused to love that stuff, but FD have the habit of waiting till you have invested a few months into designing the idea structure, data capture methods and analysis tools, then changing the whole damned thing.

I like doing it, but don't like beating my head against a wall.

I mean, there was that one time I wrote down all the 30 local systems in the Crab Nebula to check them off after I explored them – detail surface scanned everything in them. Getting there and out again was the first and last time I've used jumponium in the game so far, using my multi-role combat/exploration Vulture to get there during the Crab Nebula Expedition of 3302 (I was a fleet escort as well), so naturally I wanted to make the most of it. Getting there was a hoot, and one of the more compelling things I've done in the game.

Not sure if that counts or not, but I think it's within the same spirit as what the OP is talking about. I mean, I didn't use a spreadsheet. But that's OK, right?

Now, if I could copy and paste text directly from the game to my PC (log files not withstanding), it might be a different story.

I have Google Sheets with Tabs for Ship Progression Plans & Loadouts (linked to Coriolis), Exploration Expeditions planned, and Trade/Trade Logs. I don't use the Trade pages much anymore, as planning my trade routes in advance doesn't really work due to supply and pricing changes.

But yes, loved using spreadsheets in Eve Online, and in ED as well.

I think achievement is that you can do both. Number crunching is exciting for some, and totally boring for others. But both can find something to go for in ED. I think that's one of game's strengths despite sometimes we might feel otherwise.
