Horizons My SRV is falling at a moon! Help...

Edit: All solved. I kinda accidentally loaded back in while trying to find a file support needed and I appeared 10m above the moon and gently touched down. Then I ran, ran from that moon and system as fast as my Asp could carry me.

Hello all. So, I'm currently halfway to Sag A. Yesterday I was driving around on a moon in some system somewhere in my SRV. Then I got kicked out for the 2.1 update, which I didn't see any warnings about ingame. Now I've logged back in having installed the patch and my SRV spawned over 20km above the moon falling right at it. I've logged out a few km high in hopes some light can be shed on this / what I might be able to do before I smash into tiny pieces on this random moon.

Here's a recording of what's happened so far. Warning: There's some swearing.

I'd say support ticket time

I agree 100%!

I take it that the OP has a bunch of unclaimed exploration data onboard he doesn't want to loose? If that were not the case I would think that a simple Self destruct would resolve his predicament and get him back onboard his ship. I'm not even totally sure that self destructing while in the SRV would cause you to loose your exploration data. Perhaps not since the ship's systems might be technically the storehouse for this data. Again... I'm not an expert on how ED is structured in this area, so I definitely would not want to suggest anything with 100% confidence as to the outcome/results.

As for the lack of a warning message last night before the servers went off-line... I too was caught totally by surprise in my own session. While I wasn't in such a remote location... I was traveling through a ring system just outside a Hazardous RES site instead of safely docked at my home station! Had I seen the traditional 30 minute warning message we see every Thursday night, and what I was expecting at some point last night, I would have obviously headed back to base!

Instead, I got dropped like a hot potato with no warning message of any kind! That disconnect was in fact the actual beginning of the nearly 12 hours of downtime for the 2.1 update! I must say that all day today, I was concerned that I might load 2.1 for the first time and find myself in a similar situation to the OP!

FD has yet to explain themselves regarding what happened here! Of all the times to fail to provide the community with some warning, it would be on the eve of a MAJOR update involving notable changes to enemy AI and actual asset positioning etc.!

If you end up losing any data as a result, then FD definitely OWES YOU BIG TIME for any losses and should repay those loses with interest OP! Absolutely no excuse for what happened last night!

No excuse whatsoever! [rolleyes]

Thank you guys. I stuffed up and managed to luck out on this one by accidentally loading back in, and for some reason was safely just above the surface.

Here's the video of that if you like. Needless to say, there's more swearing.

Had to +rep for that first video, especially the beginning with "Nonono! NONONO!" made me laugh. :D
