i am a big fan of jurassic park. its one of my most loved franchises. and its really sad to see a dino park management game that has catered for the casuals.

operation genisis is 15 years old but it has the features that evolution doesent.
and for a game in 15 years in the future.
they are features that evolution should have.

ie dino packs.... randomly generated sandbox mode without unlimited money and everything unlocked for mass replayability..... better security.
shoot to kill for dangerous dinos AND lethal gene incase of break outs. more in depth micro management of dinos and park guests.. toilets that you can charge your guests to use.... it even has hot air baloons!

i could go on but i think my point is clear.. with time and communication with there fans frontier could turn it back around and make evolution the greatest dino park management game of its time. until then with 0 replayability it is not worth the hefty price tag.

i hope i come back some day to change this review.

i was looking forward to this game as i spent a stupendous amount of time on JPOG and thought it would be so much more but other than the gorgeous visuals its actually inferior.

i mean jurassic world tought the viewer about blue being the alpha of the raptors pack. evolution doesent have alphas. it doesent even have packs!

i want to love this game so bad but its really difficult to.

I figured the whiners and complainers would take to the Steam reviews and start bombing it with negative reviews.

Currently the game has 3,003 reviews so far and it's currently sitting at mostly positive. You can read the negative steam reviews and most of them are written by either idiots or people who are just using it as a platform to whine and complain.

I wouldn't go quite that far, but it IS pretty dated. The game is much too easy, the voice acting is laughably bad, there's very little variety in buildings, barely any missions, etc.

I played JPOG and I would go that far. After playing it for a while you see how lacking JPOG is. All the people whining about JWE not being as good as JPOG on Steam are whining about the lack of herding, animation and AI. Things that have already been mentioned and are still getting mentioned. Usually in much more constructive ways.

The other negative reviews boil down to people thinking the game is bad cause they obviously don't like management games and were expecting something else. At least that is what I got from what little I could stand to read.

I really don't mind people not liking the game. I mean, fair enough, move on.
What really grinds my gears are those coming up with the most ridiculous "reasons" not why they don't like it, but "why the game is a fail".

It's starting to look like that JPOG fanboys are worse than Star Citizen ones, bashing Elite. They're not wearing rose-tinted glasses, they seem to be wearing horse-blinds. :D

Oh well. *shruggs*

I actually saw a JPOG fan whine about the lack of variety in buildings(!) in JWE. Let's see, JPOG had restrooms, kiosks, and gift shops. JWE has: Gift shops, clothes shops, toy stores, fast food, restaurants, bars, bowling alleys, arcades, fossil zones, innovation centers, science centers, security centers, hotels, etc. etc.

Yes. I see that as well. The other day I was reading a post on the JWE Reddit (avoid it cause it's peak whining over there) and the OP was whining about the guests being robotic and not reacting to anything. People were proving him wrong left and right with pictures and videos. Yet he wouldn't give it up.

I've never played it, but was considering getting JPOG for all the anti-hype JWE was getting just before release. Definitely glad I ended up getting JWE though, as I was very pleasantly surprised by it. I've sunk many hours into it the last couple days, even having one sleepless night I wasn't planning on.

I'm hoping for more on the dino sim sandbox side of things, but the management and progression gameplay while setting up a park the way I want it have been way more compelling than I thought they'd be.

Oh well. To each their own.

The progression system and missions is what I love the most about JWE. I am an avid ANNO fan and this system feels like home. It guides you through it, has significant rewards and is altogether a kind of a glue that really makes you feel like you're managing a dino park and not just playing with toys.

its fine to not like JPOG. thats your own fair opinion and that is your right.

however

getting offended at every single bit of criticism towards this game because people are showing where its lacking is kinda sad. evolution is not the perfect game you seem to view it as. niether is JPOG. but JPOG is still more impressive with what it can do for its age compared. and thats not opinion. thats fact.

Same here. The missions are great and so is the progression.

They've been doing this for months. They can't handle criticism and declare it as 'whining'.

Never played JPOG not here to defend evolution really either but come on how can you make the statement I bolded above with a straight face. Everything about that statement is purely subjective therefore rendering it an opinion and not fact. Your entire claim is "JPOG is more impressive", yes you have some qualifiers about its age, that statement is still a purely qualitative subjective judgement, your only evidence supporting it as fact is your assertion that it is a fact. Again not trying to take sides about the game(s) but that statement is just full of logical fallacies. Facts need testable premises or evidence to support them as facts, you offered 0 of either.
