Since children tend to be pretty open to new concepts, she would probably also be able to understand the difference between not wanting to have something you're uninterested in forced upon you and being incapable of doing it if it did interest you.

Surely nobody is really foolish enough to believe that people who don't want to PvP in an MMO (especially one mostly designed around PvE) have never gotten good at anything competitive?

See, that's the ironclad unassailable irony of the situation: the ten year old child understands something that you do not....she is playing a multiplayer video game. Furthermore, she understands that in this multiplayer video game, there is an element of competitiveness, and instead bursting into tears with snot bubbles bulging from her nose and begging Sandro, er, her daddy I mean, to make the bad players go away, she copes with the situation with aplomb and maturity and figures out how to develop her own tools to deal with the situation.

Honest to god, this thread reads like a dictionary definition of "irony."

No the point is a 10 year old lacks the maturity to understand what injustice is which is shared by quite a few people. She also doesn't value her time or effort. Once again a sign of immaturity. Seriously you think this 10 year old will continue to play if she gets constantly clubbed to death with diamond swords and she has to spend 6 weeks making diamond armor.

i concur, and i would never have dared to post a photo of my kids on a forum like this, for any reason, not even backwards, but if you are/have been parent you probably understand father pride...

Well the OP may not be so smug if his ten year old daughter was playing ED and the ganker/griefer had a mouth to match their online amusements.

No, I expect with this kid's attitude she'll actually learn to thrive in the game environment as it stands instead of demanding the dev's make up a bunch of special rules and exceptions to make it possible for her to play in an artificial protective bubble

The more she achieves, the less accepting she will become of these sorts of scenarios. I wouldn't mind losing my wooden pick-axe to some murder hobo, but if I spent days putting together a nice set of armor and weapons, you can bet it would bother me to be ganked by said murder hobo.

If that's your stance, and you're not prepared to read a thread, I don't see the point in posting. It's odd you've only requested that a pro-'gweefer' stanced OP thread be consigned to the Hotel, but I get it, 'I see no ships', right?

See, I don't think it's about that Gunnet. Its about the maturity of the other party (or as seems to be the parlance here, 'victim')

My favourite example is in Naval Action, where a lot of the PvE types used to make up the crafters that built the ships that groups used for their nation to dominate the map.

I regularly used to potter around the french controlled region of the map in my light frigate and would fall upon a trader with glee as I took what could be a weeks worth of building materials off of them.

How did they react? Did they pester the devs asking for PvE only flags on a PvP Server? Did they villify or harrass people like me in and out of game?

No. They took it on the chin, got together, and started putting together a convoy system to protect themselves using the tools that existed within the game.

The most amusing one I got was a Trader Snow laden with minted golden coins (think: Modular Terminals in Elite terms) that I quickly ran down, and snaffled.

All I got in chat was a "That'll teach me to sail unescorted".

Not to mention the peoples whom general idea of fun to screw with everyone else. You really mixing up these with a kid whom learning to play the best he can without whining and rage quitting? My hats is off to her, but for that?

And i must also agree with Znort. To give out a personal information this sensitive without covering your own name, is hugely irresponsible, and as the last case shows? You don't know whom will find you, and after that, wild accusations starting to fly,

Do the smart thing and remove it ASAP, and if you really want to post something like this, at least do a flavor to yourself and your family & remove all personal reference.

How is being a bully being a good sport? Oh, you mean your victim, the person you selected because they were not outfitted to fight back effectively? Got it, double standard in effect... Why didn't you just say so in the first place? Would that be because the entire discussion would collapse if you were honest in your intentions?

get gud is not everything, you don´t understand the point of this so called cry posts.

wing attacks vs 1, enginering, no punishment and so on.
thats frustrading and have nothing to do with getting better.

this whole griefer thing is a joke and you try to defent this with a child, that is a sad thing.
that is feedback to improve the game expirience, the majority of the playerbase don´t do PvP.
it´s always the same names who grief in this game.
