Errrm, FDev just did that - which is why we waited 18 months for FCs. Perhaps FDev could stop breaking things instead, then we might get actual new content.
yea...no. They didn't do that. They said they were doing that...but all they did do was add some new player systems and muck around with penalties and crime handling and tweak mining around a bit and change exploration from honking to honking + find the fuzzy dot and click it.
They didn't complete power play.
They didn't make changes to activities in the game that allow casual or new players to continue playing easy activities if they want and then scale the economy so that new activities that are much harder but much higher paying can exist for veteran players
They didn't create environmental hazards so that exploration had risky but higher rewarding paths
They didn't add missions
They didn't add more interactive AI scripting into the npcs
They didn't rebalance the larger ships now that they can carry SLF's so that they behave like big ships and not magically able to dogfight like a smaller one.
They didn't fix re-instancing exploits that have existed from year 1.
They didn't add better ways to socially connect with other players within the game you already weren't sharing an instance with or know.
They didn't improve the squadron feature so that it behaved much more like guilds and player groups in other games with news bulletins and organizational features built into the game instead of having to coordinate everything on reddit and external voice chat tools.
They didn't add better role playing functionality into the game so that your character's actions and choices impact their future gameplay ...so everything wasn't instantly interchangeable and thus equally meaningless in what you do and how the npcs interact with you.
They didn't improve the game economy so that we have a reason to care about any given system
They didn't advance the war mechanic with the thargoids so they were more than just something we can all collectively ignore whenever we want.
They didn't fix the VR galaxy map so that the mouse doesn't work ...so players aren't trying to use it like they do in 2d and fail horribly.
They didn't add any other srv type vehicles to the game.
They didn't add anything to the narrative and galnet ...and in fact took away most of that.
They didn't add tools they previously required for mysteries in the game into the game so any future ones could be worked on within the normal game-flow
They didn't add dark systems and get rid of these y-dwarfs that are ice cold and wouldn't generate any light
They didn't fix engineer balance so that the bonus of engineering something that only costs once is corrected so that rebuys and repairing and re-arming such things are much more costly than their vanilla parts - creating a meaningful compromise that forces players to really strategize what they engineer vs just doing everything maxed out.
Ok, i'm bored, ...the list goes on. The core gameplay is still woefully inadequate for much of the same reasons now as they were 2 years ago. We dont know why that is because we aren't looking at 2 years worth of work ...carriers aren't that complicated.
