Ooooh, this is fun. I wish I found this thread sooner
I really like how the game grew with new dinosaurs with each new update, not only are the dominion animals provide some excellent canon variety to the roster, the ones made from the ground up are just as excellent!
Here are 15 of my dinosaurs in no particular order:
1. Brachiosaurus:
I like this sauropod a lot, and it was an animal I like using in any of my parks. It is with the recent update where they made the 2001 skin a variant is when I really like the animal, it really makes it such a chunky dinosaur that I personally like to use as a Brachiosaurus instead of the more giraffatitan inspired based variant.
2. Ouranosaurus:
I really love this animal, even outside of JWE2. What makes this such a cool animal to me is we have two variants in the game that would go for either a spine that is thick and muscular, or slender and with a sail like back. It really is one of the few animals I like due to how drastic the variants are, and one that I like for being a quadruped.
3. Oviraptor:
This little one is possibly my favorite scavenger. All other scavengers in the game have this scary feel to them that they could swarm you despite the small size, this guy is more or less a chicken and I love her for that. For a Dominion animal, it looks really good in the game, and is excellent in my parks with a theme of Malta, Asia, Feathered, or arid locations.
4. Gigantoraptor:
Oh my! I really love its inclusion so much. It has been my top favorite animal I want to see come to the game alongside deinocheirus and therizinosaurus, so seeing her be included after the other two really seals the deal for me for having some of the most bizarre dinosaurs in the game, not only from Asia (which needed more representation), but in general.
Her execution is one I really like as well, she really fits the niche of a giant Cassowary / Terrestrial bird well. She is fun to have in the park, especially when housed with Oviraptor, it's like dedicating a section of the park for a prehistoric emu farm, which these giant oviraptorsaurs are just as terrifying seeing them rush out to cause havoc in the park when given the chance (Pllleeeeaaassseeee let them hunt small animals).
5. Iguanodon
Despite the iffy genome this animal has with really negative lifespan and humble traits, I really like housing Iguanodon into my park. I personally am in awe of the execution of this animal since Jurassic World Evolution 1, it still looks great in the sequel and I like it better than what they have done in Dominion. I do miss the way it used to munch on food with the spike thumbs but I really like the overall design of this super bulky ornithopod, they are dinosaurs built for Mesozoic Rugby.
6. Dimetrodon
I really like this animal, ever since the way they were depicted in Disney's fantasia, and soon reading how this animal was never really a dinosaur in the first place. She fits well in the roster, like in a roster full of mesozoic animals, she is a special guest star from the permian period.
I like using her in the parks, she fits the monitor lizard / crocodile niche I like to have in the park, especially when seeing her sail pop out of the water. It is strange how they do not hunt down lystrosaurus, but I like the feel of housing an animal that could not escape on her own that is dangerous to a few selection of dinosaurs that wanders into her enclosure.
7. Deinocheirus
This one is outstanding! This dinosaur is such a unique animal that I am happy to see her be included, especially as a piscivore that could be safely housed with other herbivores.
Such a weird amalgamation of features, it looks like a giant sloth/bear, has a head that is like a pelican, a camel like hump, likes plants and fish, but is able to tackle down some of the more fearsome predators in the game. It works really well and I love having her in the park, especially now that she has been given proper music when observing the animal.
Here is a tip: If your park gets storms, try not to include this animal with battle ready herbivores, my small herd of chunkingosnaurs were slaughtered by the pack of Deinocheirus due to the big gals getting stressed by the storm. Deinocheirus is peaceful with the more harmless herbivores like ornithopods, tiny herbivores, scavengers, and sauropods.
8. Carnotaurus
Talk about a glow up! When this animal was announced for Fallen Kingdom, I was really excited to see her come to JWE1, which she did come I believe a week later after the launch of the game. While I did like her presence back then, the carnivores of JWE1 really feel like housing different sized T-rex, which really strips a lot of personality these carnivores could have had otherwise, especially carnosaurus.
JWE2 really rectify this negative I had with carnivores in the first game, and carnosaurus has really benefited with this overhaul. She was given a great deal of animations that compliment her features: head butting one another as a social, having a cute feeding animation where they accidentally throw a steak on another's head, sitting down in a very upright position unlike any other carnivore in the game, and a very brutal and reckless hunting takedowns when trying to hunt goats, small herbivores, and ornithopods. Perfect
9. Nothosaurus
This one caught be by surprise, it is not an animal I was expecting, but one that I ended up loving.
When the Marine Species Pack was announced, I saw it as the least exciting inclusion in the pack compares to the prehistoric permian fish, whale sized ichthyosaur, and world largest turtle. Only after incubating some into my park did I really appreciate the inclusion of this animal. They fill in the role of a sea-lion in JWE2, and seeing them swim elegantly in the lagoon only to be some of the more noisier animals on the platform is a nice display of this animal's behavior. She really adds some much needed variety to the roster of lagoon animals.
10. Spinosaurus
I remember the hype with the inclusion of the Spinosaurus in JWE1, as we were unsure if the animal would make it in considering it is a Jurassic World game. There has been a lot of history as well with this animal, especially with the small size it had in the first game compared to other large carnivores, T-rex included.
When Jurassic World Evolution 2 launched she got a bit of a model update which I liked, but there was something I could not put my finger on which did not have me like her as much as I did in JWE1. It was only with a recent update where they updated her posture and animation that I now see she was lacking some charm, her now upright posture makes her look more confident and imposing as an animal, her exit animation is much more aggressive, and the excellent canon-takedown animation is the cherry on top that made me want to have this animal in my parks more often. The update she was given really made this animal more aligned with her screen time counterpart in JPIII, and it is a detail in fan service I really appreciate the effort!
11. Cryolophosaurus
Admittedly, of my favorites, this one I do not incubate much, and in a way, it is why I like her so much.
Being a dinosaur from Antartica, I often forget that she exists due to how far off her dig site is from the rest of the roster. It is only when I am dedicated to incubating this animal does she leave a great impression in my parks. Her design fits well in both Jurassic World and Jurassic Park, especially to those who saw her in the PS1 game WARPATH JP, where she even has a skin combination to match her depiction there.
Her small size for a medium carnivore, alongside the crest, animations, her position in Antartica and hailing from the Jurassic Period (which needs more animals) really make her a great inclusion in any my parks. I kinda wish she did not have the T-rex them though and would have that of a medium carnivore or even a music set appropriate to her. Otherwise, she is excellent.
Also, strangely enough, she does not consider Dryosaurus prey

I just want to point that out as it feels like an oversight.
12. Dsungaripterus
This pterosaur is possibly my favorite among the aviary roster of flying reptiles. One of the first DLC animals added to the game, this one really sets itself apart from the rest due to the small size, curved beak, and crest(?) on top of its beak. As an early game option she really adds some much needed color to your aviary, and I like to house them as the parrots of my park. I would like if she had a unique idle animation where she lands on sand near water and would try to sift out clams and crustaceans with her beak to add to her special beak structure and the niche she potentially occupies in her time, but honestly that is a detail that is unnecessary.
13. Dimorphodon
The recent update with the 2022 variant skin options has made this animal one of my favorites. The Dominion version is more close to the size of documented dimorphodon that I appreciate, and with how she also has the back fuzz of pycnofibers makes her such a cute little gremlin.
I would love if we could incubate more in an aviary space, and that she could utilize the insect feeder like the jeholopterus, otherwise she is a great variant. I also love using this little guy in Safari areas of my park away from guests, as she looks great among the Jurassic Sauropods she shared her territory with.
14. Lystrosaurus
I am so happy for her inclusion, she makes for an excellent small enclosure that encapsulates the start of the early triassic, and it helps she is available so early in the game.
They are very adorable for tiny herbivores, and are really helpless when compared to the rest of the roster of animals that you could incubate. One small thing I like to do is populate a tiny island with these herbivores, as they are incapable of passing through the water while also look comfortable in an open environment free from fencing.
15. Therizinosaurus
Of course this is gonna be on the list. Ever since JWE1, the community and I were hoping this dinosaur could get in, and thanks to Dominion, that wish became a reality!
One thing I really like, is the execution to have this animal to be a very aggressive herbivore. Not just a herbivore that could defend itself, but one that does not even tolerate the roster in the game outside from the scavengers. This, coupled with the harder research requirement and high appeal makes this animal not just cool to have, but really rewarding to acquire. It is so satisfying to house this animal, as there really is nothing like her in the game. She really is somewhat intimidating thanks to having a covering of short feathers, cat like eyes, intimidating face, and those signature long claws with her giant size, this is a veggisaur you do not want to pet.
*Honorable Hybrid mention goes to Scorpius Rex.
I often do not like to incubate hybrids into my park, but when I do, it would be the Scorpious rex. The Indominous Rex and Indoraptor feel more designed when compared to the Scorpius rex, and I love that about the Camp Cretaceous baddy. She is such an eerie animal to house in the park as the design is very uncanny, it really feels like the first hybrid Dr. Wu made, as the amalgamation of other dinosaur genomes makes her so uncomfortable. She is ugly in the best possible way, and I would even include her in Jurassic Park themed Parks if given the chance as she fits well in the 90's aesthetic of Sci-Fi monster movie design.
Needless to say, this was difficult to write as there are so many animals I like in the game: Sauropelta, Chasmosaurus, Diplodocus, Pteranodon, Yutryrannus, Qianzhousaurus are others I really like as well, with plenty more I have not listed to not lengthen this post further. I have yet to incubate the Utahraptor and Tarbosaurus and I feel like they are great inclusions as well.
JWE2 really has a great roster of dinosaurs, especially after the latest update, and I hope 2024 could lead to more DLC to include some of the more wonderful animals discovered over the years!
