my two cents

So, just came home with my cargo full of stuff, worth a million credits. i flew into the station but forgot to ask for permission. i turned immediately as i saw the 500 cr fine, got out a second too late.

the station opened the fire although i was not in the station. imagine what happened next.

i lost my ship, had to pay 300000 cr for insurance and lost the cargo as well

all in all 1300000 cr lost.... because i forgot to ask for landing permission.

im fed up, guys.

Yeah, sorry, I feel your pain. The get-out-or-die timer should be extended, it doesn't take less-than-agile ships into consideration at all.
If extending the timer is somehow not an option the developers want to consider, perhaps they could add a warning that pops up when you approach the entrance, rather than telling you you're trespassing when it's already too late.

If it's any conciliation i did it today in a type 7 full of gold.
3.6 mil loss.
Would be nice to have more than 30 seconds to turn the lumbering behemoth around and scoot out.

Been there, done that, waved buh bye to a T7 with 223 tons of gold, easily 5 mil in losses. My fault, will probably happen again.

Just fyi, you broke forum rules by not starting your post with "So, i just came home..."

The So is an integral part of the Elite is dangerous venting post.

Paying attention isn't that hard.
Once you leave supercruise and you're ~9k from the station, boost towards it, then go to your left hand panel and get ready to request docking permission as soon as you hit 7500km. Done.

Exit. Boost. Request permission.
No more mistakes.

Been in that scenario a few times myself, even after all this time.

No sudden movements, kill speed, then reverse out of there. So far i managed to get away with the fines.

Don't mess about with turning !

Sorry for your loss, understandable you're fed up, but kudos to you for not blaming the game.

Save and exit if this happens again and you feel you're not gonna make it back out in time.

hi folks, i need to write that down.

Question..... Will you forget next time ???

Sorry to here you lost that much :(

A little tip to help you and others avoid this. If you don't have permission to dock, you get an impact warning as you approach the letter box.

You probably noticed it but didn't realise why. Now you will.

I believe ED is too forgiving. I would remove insurance at all.

Go ahead and remove it, then. But also go ahead and make the game more immersive and realistic by improving the AI and making them behave in an actually believable, reasonable manner.

Don't let people walk through a door, point a gun at them and shout "You're trespassing! Leave immediately or we will open fire!" only to shoot them in the back when they comply, just because you think they aren't running away fast enough.

The game should be "Dangerous" because hostile AI puts up a fight, not because supposed friendlies/neutrals are so intent on ending you for the tiniest infraction, whether it is your fault or not. With super-powered lasers they somehow dare to fire within a space station, among other things. Make the game challenging - but do it in a reasonable manner.

As it stands, there could be a chance of 5% that a USS you enter is full of space monkeys who'll immediately rip your ship apart, and it wouldn't really make the universe seem any less believable or realistic than it already is. I'm obviously joking now, but I wonder if there'd actually be somebody seriously defending that space monkey mechanic by saying it's called Elite: "Dangerous" for a reason.

lol done it in a cobra... ASP.... type6 and a type7. Simply hit reverse every time and managed to escape easy.
