yes you need to deinstall the assistant before you install any oculus driver. just make sure you have dk2 mode set first. The USB driver that the deepoon assistant installs is the "deepoon application device" this replaces the "Rift DK2 Sensor USB" but i think even if you uninstall the assistant that usb driver sticks around and is then used by oculus drivers.
its in the faq here:
http://bbs.deepoon.com/read.php?tid=120&fid=15 - just set chrome to translate
The deepoon assistant right now contains a 0.6 oculus driver, they have created some type of wrapper around oculus or linked against it thats why you cant run oculus + the assistant at the same time.
I run ED in win8.1 with deepoon assistant which contains oculus 0.6. - for my radeon 7970 i need to set to low to get a high enough framerate for that virtual "presence" to really set in. for vr framerate is everything!
its fairly easy to see where to put the player height and IPD adjust despite the chinese.
then i dual boot into win10 with oculus 0.8 for things like vrdesktop and alien isolation.
im happy with the E2, its stopped me wanting to drop a ton of money on a vive or a rift. this is enough for me until the second generation of hmd's come around with 4k panels and foveated rendering or whatever comes along.
