Natural lagoon !!!

Just to clarify so everyone's informed: this map, which is included in the expansion, has a natural lagoon where you can house your marine reptiles. This is a feature on this specific map, and not a new mechanic for all maps.

The map comes with pre-built Viewing Galleries, paths, and a Marine Hatchery. These can't be deleted, but you can remove the paths and redo them if you want to.

Hope that helped clear things up!
wow.......I´m sorry but that are a LOT of bad news for all Creative Sandboxbuilders....... even the most interessting Advantage to build an " Side B style island is impossible now, if I can´t even delete the Buildings next to the natural lagoon !
It´s may be just my point of view, but this map with this restrictons makes the " Natural Lagoon" allmost useless for new more natural looking safariparks etc.. It would be nice if the map would at least in Sandbox be bigger without so much "dead space" between the Areas where we can build and Drive etc.
A big waste of potential of the new Lagoonmap......makes me really Sad.

Will we also be able to build conventional lagoons with the Malta style building set?

Sometimes restrictions breed creativity! I can't wait to see what people build on the new maps! :)

Yes! There are Lagoons and Avaries included in the Malta Building Set

I definitely see a lot of people critical of this map, but I quite like having a variety of map sizes and having to work around the terrain. It definitely challenges you to build a park in a different way. They also included a rather large map as part of the set, so there is something for everyone. Expect more natural lagoons in future maps I imagine.

The problem is we don't have a variety of map sizes or working around the terrain. They're almost all highly restricted with the terrain and every last one is far too small.

We have plenty of maps with restrictions already. United Kingdom, Southwest USA, are prime examples but even the "big" maps like Germany are also full of big dead zones.
Why can we not have just one large* open map without any annoying areas we have to build around for those of us who dont want all these restrictions?
*actually large not the slightly less small version of large in the game currently

Basically because that's clearly not the point of the game. The restrictions are the point.
Sure it's nice when devs try to accommodate their player base by changing the game a bit. And the devs did respond and make some bigger maps. But still people complained about them being too small. It's just not what the game is designed around. What people are asking basically amounts to "Why isn't this game a completely different game?".

lol, how are you able to even say that with a straight face?

Germany is a fairly large open map, Nublar 2015 being another and you can even flatten them by default in Sandbox. The only map that would suffice would be one that is a giant flat plain with no topography or any forms of terrain at all. This is what would happen in JPOG, random generation meant nothing since everyone just made the largest, flattest island possible since mountains and rivers were considered inconveniences. Granted, the natural lagoon map is restrictive since you can't remove the structures setup around it or even run paths to those docks and buildable space around the lagoon is too shallow, but the bigger issue I think has to do with the fact there isn't much gameplay to be had with the marine reptiles which would alleviate a lot of the problems experienced with lagoons.

The point of the game is the same as the point of all games. To have fun. That's it. Nothing else. Not to build half a park then restart because you ran out of room.

The only big map we ever got was Nublar North and you may have missed it but this game was supposed to have maps that were far bigger than the previous games. Instead we don't have one even close to that size and a whole load of "large" maps no bigger than the medium maps from the previous game.

Quite simple. Germany is large by this games standards but it has two areas that are cut off. Also the bottom of the map is extremely narrow and isn't particularly useful.
Finally and most importantly while it isn't one of the maps like isla Pena that severely limits your builds it still only has room for around half the species even before dlc dinos. By comparison on the previous game I could comfortably house every species including hybrids on Nublar north and still have room to spare.

Yeah, no.

Your perspective of fun might be completely different from someone elses. Some games will be catering to a more wide audience, sure. But definitely not all of them. And devs also have wants of things they'd like to see in the game. Maybe the devs want to make hard challenges. Maybe they don't. And there are also plenty of indie games that aren't specifically made to be fun. They are made as artistic expressions. Larger companies of course cannot afford to just make purely artistic games for the sake of it. They need to make money and will generally cater to a larger audience. But there will still be an aspect of artistic expression, simply because a dev wants it to be like that.

Bigger maps does not equal more fun for everyone. And it's quite clear by now that the sandbox mode and super large maps is not the focus of this game. Most of the maps seem to be designed specifically with limitations simply to make it a challenge. Again, the restrictions are the point. For someone that only wants sandbox, that might be less fun. But for people who like challenges that might be more fun.

You've literally just proved my point. Bigger maps aren't for everyone. Neither are small ones. So there should be at least one of both so everyone is happy.

That's not how game development works. There's no solution where everyone's happy. And while I'm not sure if it's the case in JWE2, but, games are designed around certain mechanics. Changing that can break things. People are already complaining about the game lagging when they have really big parks and a lot of dinosaurs present. With bigger maps come bigger expectations of what they can be filled with. It may just be a technical limitation that might prevent the devs from properly making big maps that are also stable without causing additional problems.

There’s one flaw with this argument, there are several maps in Evolution 2 that are much larger than the previous game’s Nublar North and Nublar 1993. Here is a size chart from the subreddit comparing all of the maps from both games, including those from the new Malta expansion.

Technical limitations are one completely understandable thing. That I'd have no problem with. BUT even if that does prevent truly massive open maps it doesn't prevent giving us maps without all these unnecessary (from what I've seen unpopular) limits on where we can build.

I'm not going to tell you that data is wrong because it probably isn't but when even building a park using only all of the species from the first game is completely impossible which was something very easily done on Nublar North it certainly doesn't feel that way.
With the increased amount of area each Dinosaur requires coupled with the massive size needed for even a single lagoon it's not even close to possible to fit everything in one park.
