navigation and fuel what?

I guess you can't refuel using stars yet?

I don't believe re-fuelling at stars will ever be implemented in the game. One it makes more sense to fuel from a gas giant opposed to a star that would easily burn up any approaching ship. It was the one thing that never made sence to me in the original game.

It is in the new novel though and I am pretty sure I read that they will implement refueling at stars someday.

well, if there was no gas giant in a system you would be pretty much ***** then ;-)
btw: why no "heat shielding"? if there are shields that guard from laser then there certainly can be shields that guard from heat (which is more or less just like laser light, really, i.e. electromagnetic radiation).

well a 0.7t fuel jump only takes one Third of my Total fuel. I dont know why I can not jump any further. Even if mass and cargo and all, having 2 thirds of fuel ready and be unable to use, makes not really sense for me

I would argue that it makes perfect sense as it ensures you always have enough fuel for a return trip.

Imagine jumping somewhere that consumes 95% of your fuel only to find it's an empty solar system. You're then stuck.

Limiting it to 1/3 of your max fuel obviously ensures that, as well as ensuring there's enough fuel to reach the station to refuel.

But they should get rid of that in the final game, if you make a jump and empty your tank you should have to use an emergency beacon and hope someone will come by and either top you up or tow you to a station, also the reserve should be enough to get to a star (gas giant) to refuel if needed once that is in.

But I guess in beta that makes sense.

Hope your're not trying to use forums while driving, like checking panels for subsystem status while fling straight at the station that is!! :)

You don't buy fuel as a cargo. You refuel at station at max capacity of your ship. Your ship's jumping distance....I am on my way to work, can't look up now. If you don't find it, consider it as a bug and report it, it should be discoverable enough.

Thats exactly what i think.

Maybe its right they only introduced that limit, because refuling and fuel taxi is not in yet

AFR is your "flying around fuel". It isn't meant to be used for emergency jumps

Pretty sure it has essentially been confirmed as being the plan, even if it's not implemented yet. Not every star will necessarily be scoopable, but 1) it's part of the Elite universes' heritage, 2) it's far less dangerous than some people appear to believe. You only need Hx, so you can just scoop it from the stars atmosphere, it's not like you need to dip your scoop into a stars surface or anything.

Can you take along more hydrogen fuel as cargo and use that fuel to refill your ships fuel tank like you could in the other games? that would be a good way to go exploring and carry out a lot of quick jumps without having to dock in between.

How will explorers get out of the human inhabited clusters if they can't scoop and process their own fuel? There needs to be a way for ships to be more self sufficient if exploring is to be an option, otherwise, the huge galaxy oft talked about is meaningless other than waiting years and years for the playerbase to expand into territory which is empty as of now.

Fuel system needs a little work. Players need to know how cargo will effect the ships range before they purchase the cargo.

The galaxy map has a slider for cargo which shows which jumps can be made with the selected amount of cargo.

The hauler can get to plenty of places but as soon as you try and put more than 4 tons in then some key hops get closed off.

While a lot of people have ignore the galaxy map, it will be essential to get the most out of the game from now on.

Ya I read that in another thread and then proceeded to hit the table with it, thanks for pointing out my failings :).
