New EDH user here, so apologies if this is a common question/suggestion.
I'm an airline pilot and previously an IT architectural systems designer specialising in the UI/UX of applications, and the game navigation elements I find are quite frustrating. I realise I'm new and these things "you just need to get used to", however, they seem too long-winded and non-intuitive. You shouldn't have to "just get used to it", rather it should be a smooth experience.
1) Navigation between 2 systems
There are times when I've done a few shuttle runs moving cargo from A to B, and my cargo hold is too small. I have to make multiple trips. The really annoying thing is at each destination I have to reopen the map, find the point, select it, navigate/plot course, exit, etc - when I pick up and when I drop off. I understand that maybe the developers push you to use the map software, but I'd like to *Navigate to my previous destination*.
So what I propose here, is in the left-hand menu, add a section which says "Recent Destinations" just above SYSTEM and GALAXY (with a separator)

Clicking on this will change the right-side list to change to the previous 10 destinations you plotted courses to/from.
--- [Station Name] [System Name] [Number of jumps] [Distance]
Distance and Jumps would be based on the current settings you have in the map, and if you want to change those (economic to fastest) then you have to go in to the map and change that.
Also, how about being able to access the Bookmarked locations in the same way here, just above RECENT you could have BOOKMARKED in the same fashion.
Having to always go into Transactions, Open, scroll down, look at destination + system, click galaxy map, make sure selected, plot route, close close... This just takes away the immersion and speed at which you can do these things. Especially when you may be doing 10 shuttle runs (20 individual plots). It would be so much nicer to just flick left, navigation, recent places, home, boom.
2) Searching in the maps
Please use active-search which shows suggestions after the first 3 or 4 letters are entered. Some long-winded system names are not the simplest to spell completely. Please also include station names, not just systems, as part of the search.
3) The current position, current system, next target, etc is not totally intuitive and could do with a little shuffle. Not a major thing.

Just a couple of suggestions, but the main one is the Navigation with RECENT (and possible BOOKMARKED) from the Navigation left-hand quick access menu.
