Newcomer / Intro Navigation symbols and such

Hello Commanders,
With the new patch that has come out as well the new FC information, there are a lot of new symbols that appear in several locations. There are some new symbols on navigation panel, new symbols on navigation map and of course I assume the Carriers are the new diamond / triangle symbols on both panel and map.
Is there a place to find out what all the symbols are and mean in Elite minus the ones in last tab of galaxy map of course.

This should be a interesting. I had the same question when I first started playing. Players chiming in with little tid bits, but for the most part, it was like fumbling about in the dark. There's still a few I haven't figured out yet. But alas, I've not seen one graph or board that would identify them all; and you'd think FDEV would have put something blatantly obvious in the pilots handbook.

There is also the last tab in the Galaxy Map which lets you select which symbols/icons are displayed and names if not explains them.

I still think that, on the sysmap itself, there ought to be a filter so you can hide carriers. Some systems have so many carriers in them, it's a scroll fest to look around.

And. While we're at it, some way of not having their signals appear - at all - in the FSS.
