Nebula not visible?

I'm curious and maybe you can help me understand... According to the Galaxy Map my position and surroundings are as follows:

I'm flying towards "HYPIAE AUSMS CB-W E2-16" which just 350ly away and located within a sizeable (around 150ly wide/high) nebula. Usually I'd already see such a nebula (from within the cockpit) appearing from much further away. Why does this nebula not show up when I'm this close and heading directly towards it?

Any ideas?

My entirely random and uneducated guess would be that it looks quite dark, so it might be too dark to appear from the cockpit.

That first galmap pic suggests you're in a system with some kind of big-ass blue/white star - are you just too close to get a proper view of the sky box?

This could very well be it. If you're close to an intense light source, which a star definitely qualifies as, you need to move away or it'll dim out all but the brightest objects. This is why astronomers run away from light polluted cities to go under dark skies, and ED simulates the effect well. When near a bright objects dim stuff like nebulae will be the first to go.

He's not, though, he's nearing 2000c

jenos is right - I'm nearly 2'400'000Ls out from the system's A Class star to minimize light pollution. Additionally, the nebula has not been visible on the last dozen systems since I noticed.

It's definitely a bug, file a ticket
Yes, I had planned to do that, but wanted to check with you knowledgeable people first.

That should be far enough out then, I can't explain it - may well be a bug.
