Need help! Diamondback Explorer

So I'm planning on eventually getting myself back into the black, but I want to use a Diamondback explorer, I just love how the ship looks, but I have no idea how to build it now the exploration mechanics have changed to massively, is there anyone out there with a good build, It'd need the ability to fit a lander, I love using my SRV!

Thanks in advance.

In that case, I'd suggest using a DBX to unlock it first:

Use a build something like this:

The point defense are for the missiles.

When you're done, you will probably get the best range by using a c4 GFSD booster, and two separate c2 SRV hangars vs a c2 GFSD and c4 hangar, despite the mass penalty.
Ditch the PDTs and maybe add a couple of E rated boosters if you want.

But still has a terrible fuel scooping rate x.x
... which doesn't matter any more as you can FSS while scooping in the uber-cool-running DBX ;) It just means I get to randomly FSS a system when I need fuel - 2 birds, 1 stone.

And once you get used to it there is no need for a H/S on a DBX, they're pretty unfriable. (I always wondered why people advised taking H/S on explorer craft, then I tried using a non-DBX and now I understand :) )

The 2 extra slots on the DBX will come in handy as now I can take an AFMU and a research limpet. Now I have to seriously consider switching back from the 'lugasplorer on my alt....

Only really works if the bodies don't happen to be on the other side of the star though.

Personal preference. I hate slow scooping rates^^

This is my bubble taxi, also used for materials gathering, guardian stuff, crystalline shards and the occasional nav beacon brawling with wanted travelers
With 4 pips in shields it can take a full boost planetary encounter.
For long range, you can swap the Guardian Shield booster with an AFMU and also drop some of the weaps and utilities.

With the additional two size one slots it's utility will increase a lot, but too bad that i really hate the sounds it makes and also the fact that trying to steer it at full speed feels like trying to steer a barge.

Why would you want two SRVs? I could keep mine for about 250 Kly last time I went to the black.

I also recommend using a smaller fuel tank to increase the base jump range (not to be confused with the jump range in brackets).

A second SRV is often a nice thing to have, just for two main reasons:

1. Redundancy. You'll probably never need it, but it's nice to know that there's a spare in case of space-madness induced recklessness. :)

2. Some variety. A different color and different COVAS voice is sometimes a welcome change. :D

What Orvidius said.
Also since the context is the GFSD booster, losing an SRV is not out of the question for a beginner.

I have 4 SRVs all in different colors in my DW2 Krait MkII.
My Anaconda explorer even has 2 different SLFs for variety.
