Need help. Game is stuttering.

So I wanted to check out the new powerplay, but I am having issues with my VR settings.

Previously ( I've been playing for about a year from the release date) I've been playing on 1070, 3770k, and the game ran smoothly on CV1. Few years forward and the game tanks to pretty much single digit frames when I am in the station, is not consistent, sometimes it will run ok for a while and suddenly drop like a rock.

I am using RTX 3070 and R7 3700X now and I can't believe the game runs so badly even though I am still using Quest 1, so lower resolution and refresh rate of just 72 frames.
This can't be happening. Can someone point me in the right direction what can I do? I dropped all the options to minimum and it still didn't make a huge difference.
I am using link thru wi-fi, tried both Steam XR and oculus own XR environments, the game is on high priority in task manager, all the power options are correct set to Ryzen own profile, all the drivers are up to date... I kinda start loosing my mind.

I don't have any troubles playing any other VR games but Elite.
Is it even possible to run this game with my hardware?

What the hell happened?!

I was happily playing ED on a Quest 2 with a RTX 3070ti & i7 8700 so I’m not sure what is causing your woes - is there any SuperSampling going on through Steam or Oculus Tray Tool or something like that you may have missed?

No, It's a fairly fresh Windows 10 install, and I haven't touched any Oculus debug settings really except for the mirror, and my SteamVR is set to 100%.
I am surprised myself, because it occasionally run "smoothly" but when it starts lagging it doesn't stop untill I jump to other system, or go far away from the station.
Like it went downhill once after I changed the craft and I see a lot of texture glitches, no AA applied.
I have it installed on m.2 drive, so hopefully it's not loading in for such a long time.
I am using the official launcher, maybe I'll try downloading the one from meta store.

Very odd!

I mainly use Link and occasionally AirLink, stand-alone launcher for the game, no problems beyond the reported VR issues.

Anything in the nVidia control panel or is that all at default?

All stock, I will double check if there is anything that looks weird but If that was the case, wouldn't I have problems in other games?
I didn't bother with any overclocking or anything.

Would be a shame, because I can't imagine playing the game any other way than in VR.

I'd drop every setting I could to as low as they will go, Steam to 50%, then try again. If the stuttering is fixed, then that would suggest settings in game/Steam etc. If it still stutters, then it could be the WiFi, although since you have no issues in other games, this is unlikely but should be ruled out.

If the stuttering is fixed, raise each setting 1 at a time and check the results. Yeah it's going to take some time but you will need to narrow down where the stuttering is coming from. If none of it helps, time to look elsewhere.

Have you checked GPU and CPU load? Background processes? It sounds like you've already checked those things, but just incase ...

Basically, start at the bottom; update/remove and reinstall drivers from the manufacturers websites, ensure they are all installed correctly (motherboard, sound, gpu, etc) and try again at lowest settings and see if anything makes a difference, checking after each one.

Do you have multiple monitors on your PC? I have 3 of them and was getting terrible performance for months with my G2 and stopped playing for ages as I thought it was a bug with Elite that would never get fixed. One day I moved the window on to the left-hand monitor instead of the centre one and the framerates doubled. If I move the window to the centre it is terrible again. Probably won't help you as it's a different headset, but worth a try. FYI the centre monitor is 4k and the left-hand one is 1080p.
