Need help with PP2

The problem with Li Yung Rui is that he is the greedy CEO of the megacorp Sirius Corporation.
The problem with Archon Delaine is that he is a criminal & bloodthirsty pirate.
The problem with Aisling Duval (and her family) is the fact that their hereditary monarchy exploits slavery.

I believe in equality, and that supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives...
The Federation is the only way o7
HAHAHA sureeeeeeee :ROFLMAO:

the game is called Elite Dangerous for a reason. it is a dangerous galaxy out there, not some fairytale lalaland. Plus, I've read the elite lore and the Federation is not exactly a saint amongst saints.

Personally I love the empire, and I have ZERO problem with their slavery. It's a choice imperial citizens make if they can't pay their bills and gotten themselves into a debt they can't afford. I see nothing wrong with that, morally.

I will generally interdict any enemy pledged Cmdr in my power's territory...but I take the most pleasure in destroying Empire pledged Cmdrs 😂

Although, just a couple of days ago, I interdicted a low(ish) ranked Cmdr in an Anaconda who was pledged to Arissa Lavigny-Duval - I took out their FSD and drive when they agreed to leave the system...so I took pity on them, and allowed them to reboot and leave (I made a new friend too!)
...I'm too soft 😄

it's the only time you can role play as a ganker but you technically not really ganking because you are defending your power. I figured that once you enter an enemy power systm you assuming the risk? especially in open

the ones I hate are those who attacked AX players during the AX events knowing they can't defend themselves.

Yep, agree about the Federation. But I'm not going to disparage it too much given the reality we're currently living in.

I also agree about Imperial Slavery provided it works as advertised. As in people sell themselves into slavery (indentured servants) to work off a debt and then they can work off the debt and restore themselves financially. However, it seems that in a lot of cases Imperial Slaves are forced to go from one contract to another, assuming they can even pay off the first one. It's like living in a "company town." When it works as they advertise it, I have no problem with it - especially since Imperial Slaves are still supposed to be offered all the rights and protections of normal citizens. Sadly, it doesn't always work out that way. Unfortunately, nothing in the lore gives us any clear picture of how often it follows the ideal vs. deplorable, unending servitude.

I wouldn't even call it ganking (and, btw, I'm only dealing with NPCs because I'm in solo)... it's just PVP with an actual purpose. Further, if both sides are ranked up enough, most of the consequences (e.g. 100% rebuy funded) are removed.

Yeah, AX gankers and gankers that target expeditions are the worst. Right after that are people who won't turn report crimes off in AX combat zones, to prevent problems (due to sloppy coding by FDEV), and then claim you're a ganker because you point out that this is the common courtesy. Not naming names, by I blocked that guy. :)

I don't have a problem with that lol. If their owner doesn't need them anymore or their contract expired, then the owner can sell them off to a different entity until their debt is fully paid off.

100% agree on that, but with certain exceptions. They might be slaves or (indentured servants), but they are not criminals. Meaning they should be treated like human beings and not property.
However, there are exceptions lol. If their debt was acquired by scamming people, would be one. For instance, you ran a ponzi scheme and stole billions of credits and the Imerial Court order you to pay 10x that amount. Well, if you can't afford that, you will be sold as a slave and have no rights and protection whatsoever.

it's a brilliant system because it keeps the imperial penal colony population under control. instead of incarcerating them and using taxes to feed them, they are sold as imperial slaves to "pay back" their dues.

"There are no free meals in the Empire" :D. LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE

The Federales on the other hands are a bunch of lazy free loaders...

The correct and sane way to deal with undesirables is to eat them. With the Kumo, you are constantly striving for excellence because the weak and useless are made into useful protein. Its good for the environment, overcrowding is gone, and you get a free toy with every meal.

Ah, is the sales pitch "Eat Kumo burgers. Kumo burgers are good for the environment and ok for you" or something similar? ;) (credit to the awful Judge Dredd movie with Stalone)

WHAT???? :ROFLMAO:

as in like cannibalism or feed them to space sharks?

lol, it's like a better version of McDonald's
You must be new to the Kumo Burger franchise...

Ok, joking aside, I do have a few questions about PP 2.0 myself:
If you do an activity your Power doesn't specialize in, does it still help system progress (just not as much)? I ask because when I was pledged to LYR, I often did bounty hunting, and earned merits. I'm not sure how much that contributed to the system progress, however. I have since left LYR and restarted in ALD, and I was wondering if I could still mine for merits if I wished. I don't just want to rank up, I also want to help reinforce some systems. I also hope to still earn merits by doing the occasional advert hack, obtaining data and items from Odyssey settlements, etc.

I was just curious if anyone from the powers that specialize in combat have been earning merits (and system progression) through the methods not favored by their power. I do enjoy bounty hunting, but I also like variety.

For anyone curious, I wasn't unhappy doing stuff for LYR. I just wasn't as happy as I was down in ALD territory which has a bubble of rep I built up over years. So I decided to go down there. I'm a little irritated Aisling is undermining one of the two systems that has my name stamped on the planets, and already take a couple of other systems I used to frequent. But... meh. And who knows, I may get frustrated in ALD space and finally go full Kumo. ;)

For anyone that cares, here was my level with LYR when I left:

My understanding is that anything which earns merits helps system progress. There are slightly different factors between the points and the merits (e.g. 4x for trading, 6x for exploration; see Paul's post here). So unless I'm talking nonsense, if an activity is favoured by a Power, you get more merits and the system progress gets more points, the end.
