Needs more monkeys

I'd love more monkeys! Also, even though it's just a small mistake, as an animal lover it's driving me a bit insane seeing chimps and bonobos called monkeys, when they're more closely related to humans. Moving on. Anyway, I'd really like to see more small New World monkey species, any sort of tamarin would work. Even something as large as a squirrel monkey, they're still tiny compared to something like a baboon or macaque. Unfortunately the next pack is probably going to be for Europe or North America. Hopefully they'll add more small monkeys someday.

Gibbons. Are. Not. MONKEYS! But I'd still like them.

I think it's clear from OP's post that we can assume he meant "primates". Some languages don't differentiate between monkey and ape so it doesn't often translate well, either, and there are a large number of European members of this community.

If you'll look at my earlier post, you'll see that while I can accept that it's a small error that doesn't really matter, I can be a bit...hmm, what would the word be? Easily ticked off about something that's ultimately a matter of little consequence? I don't know, I wasn't actually mad, just joking a bit. I know what he meant.

Personally I'd be thrilled to see more than one gibbon species; namely Siamang and Lar gibbon though I still wish for a hoolock gibbon too lol

Yay ! I would really love to see more South American primates, there is a huge lack of them compared to Africa and Asia. Howler Monkey would be a perfect candidate as it could also use the new chorus behaviour. 😇

Two years later not much changed and I still miss more species of primates:

Howler monkey
Spider monkey
Golden lion tamarin

Mantled guereza
Blue nile patas monkey
Baboon

Lar Gibbon
Lion tailed macaque
Gray langur

All those 9 species would make me very happy although I could easily name 9 more that would fit perfectly 😋

Those plus squirrel monkeys and debrazza monkeys 🐵

Lets imagine a Primate Pack

Mountain Gorila
Lar Gibbon
Black Howler Monkey
Spider Monkey
Hamadryas Baboon
Lion-Tailed Macaque
Coquerel's sifaka
Golden snub-nosed monkey

I don't think we need a primate pack, but we definitely need some more primates. Minimally one baboon species (preferably hamadryas or gelada), one or two New World monkeys (ideally four, so we can get a spider monkey, howler monkey, squirrel monkey and tamarin), and one or two Old World monkeys that are not baboons (my preferences would be mantled guereza and crab-eating macaque). Another lemur (preferably sifaka) and a tarsier would also be amazing but I'm not expecting these. I think it would be great if the next DLCs will all contain one primate species if the themes allow. If we're to get a rainforest animal DLC or a regional DLC for any tropical part of the world, I wouldn't be mad to have two primates in a pack.

As a lover of primates, they are my favorite animals, I dream of a pack only of them, but as already mentioned in other topics previously, for marketing reasons I think it is impossible to have DLC dedicated to a single category of animals, for the company there is it the risk of having less sales because it would be too specific a pack (for example I would never buy a pack made only of reptiles).
Perhaps, at this point in the game's development, the only DLC they could do about one category of animals is the one for birds and flight dynamics, but even that I think is very unlikely. I believe they will release the birds little by little.

Good points. What do you think about a "carnivorous pack"?

Probably this would be "commercially" better feasible than a pack of monkeys only, bears only, canids only, because the animals present are heterogeneous...It's not a bad idea, even if based on what they eat they are all carnivores, so I don't know if they wouldn't make a pack of just carnivores or just herbivores anyway...

I'm joining the opinion that the primate pack is highly unlikely.

However how would you divide your primate wishes in remaining DLCs ?

In my idea we would perfectly get 2 of each, Baboons, New World Monkeys and African Monkeys. Probably not going to happen, but that's my perfect idea.

I'm also aware people wish for some more Asian monkeys, but they're not on top of priorities for me.

Let's say we get Jungle animal pack, that can eat easily three off of list:

-Spider Monkey
-Mantled Guereza
-De Brazza Guenon

Then something like Scenery Central America pack could give us:

-Black Howler/Squirrel Monkey
(Also Spider Monkey is interchangeable here)

One or two of them can strangely enough be covered by Mountain Scenery pack:

-Gelada/L'Hoest Monkey

And something like Desert animal pack could bring us:

-Hamadryas Baboon
(Or possibly Barbary Macaque if we get regional MENA instead of Desert biome pack)

I think carnivores, specially predators, have a good marketing appeal with people in general, more than herbivores or specific animal families

Probably we will have another themes (tropical is the most probable) but It could be an "easy" solution to cover missing animals from previous dlcs
