Neutron Star: Temperature Question

I have had a pair of perplexing interactions with neutron stars that have left me puzzled. First, I jumped into a binary pair of neutron stars that immediately sent my ship temperature to critical. This freaked me out a bit for obvious reasons. But every neutron star I have encountered since then has not been the primary star, so I have been able to approach slowly. And while you are forced to get painfully close to them compared with other stars or even planets, even at 5 Ls they have no affect on temperature.

So... I am trying to figure out why the first binary pair would have had such a radical effect on my temperature. And also, if you happen to approach them at a high speed and get VERY close, what will the temperature effect be? Will it suddenly spike from around 40% up to critical levels?

maybe they modelled the jetstream and you went into that?
As faar i know neutron stars can be pulsars too and emit hgihly charged particles from there poles.
Kinda like matter accelerator in your face.

Is there a definitive answer on where the heat comes from? What if it's the gravity well interaction with the drives that causes the huge spike? It would explain why black holes are as deadly as they are.

Pulsars aren't implemented.

You overheated because you exited hyperspace right in between the two binaries which i assume were close to each other.

This happens with every binary star if you are unlucky to wedge in between them. Your heat goes up FAST.

It's because you're ship temperature is hotter after a hyperspace jump. When you're cruising about a system it's more like 50%. You jump in at around 5ls IIRC.

neutron star of mass of 1.5 solar masses started to affect my temp at about 0.24ls, maybe the binary pair was very massive.

Neutron stars are very small, they are about the size of manhatten island in new york city but they have a mass of below our suns mass so mind bogglingly dense objects.

Because of their small size their "heat sphere" is really small.

I think that most people who play this game know astronomy.

I believe that part of the current issue is that when you come out of hyperspace, the distances are way too close for anything other than a standard star. I am not sure how the devs set up the calculations for this or what the deciding factor might be but it can be extremely frustrating to find yourself nose to nose with a white dwarf and half a second to react.
