Cranes should work as they are basically like Flamingos. They could fly if zoos wouldn't trim their wings. Is trim the right word?
Both keas and cranes are fine!
Yeah cranes would most likely have their wings clipped ;)

I guess I'll just consider the first 20 :giggle:

I wouldn't say kea are fine - they're fully flying birds, same as any other parrot.

Edit: I see the puffin also made the list, despite also being a fully flying bird.
You're probably right about keas. I honestly haven't seen them in any zoo yet so my knowledge regarding how they're housed is very limited.
Swjos, I'll take the wild boar instead if you don't mind.

Puffins are a different story, as far as I can tell. The two places I've seen puffins irl (Lisbon Oceanarium and Oceanografic Valencia), housed these animals in penguin-like exhibits. The other place I know (Loro Parque, Tenerife) also houses them in a similar manner. I know their inclusion as "habitat animals" is kind of debatable but in these cases I usually embrace the principle of flexibility. Could these animals be considered habitat animals in PZ, potentially? I think yes, hence why I accept them.

Something similar occurs with the alligator snapping turtle, but in this case the dilemma is between considering it an exhibit or a habitat animal. Even though they're generally housed in big terrariums and they stay put most of the time, their size make it impossible to make them PZ exhibit animals with the current 4x4m terrariums. With that game limitation, they'd fit much better in big custom made terrariums as habitat animals. Hence why I also accept them here.

I also wish the number stayed at 30, or at least 25. It kinda kills variety in the lists.

1. American alligator
2. American black bear
3. Mountain lion
4. Harbor seal
5. Sea otter
6. Kinkajou
7. Peccary

We've gotten 15 new habitat animals since I started the 30 meta-wishlist thread. I think 20 is a good compromise given that the lifespan of future PZ content is quite shorter now and that we're talking about essential additions. I know it's hard to swallow this but chances are we will not get more than 20 habitat animals before support ends (not counting birds).
Thanks for submitting a list though! ;)

Thank you @random goat for maintaining and updating these lists! :D I love seeing them! It's really fun to see where my idea of essential intersects with the community's!

Also, variety isnt really what this metathread is about, its about what animals most of the community can agree on that they want, not the obscure picks that land in the 1-10 votes category
Exactly. I think this gives Frontier an idea of what animals would be more popular picks. Now whether they use that data and let it influence their choices is another matter, but I would think it would be smart too. I know we're just a small slice of the people buying Planet Zoo DLC, but it gives some kind of number to go on. It's far smarter saleswise, to choose animals that have dozens of votes over animals that may have a single vote or too - though of course there may be some choices that difficulty of implementation may be a prohibitive factor (there's even one on my list that I suspect would be)

I'm not sure what the optimal / recommended specs for are for keeping alligator snapping turtles, but I've seen them kept in much smaller tanks than 4x4 m.
