New 2A engineered Guardian Shard Cannon

The stats look very promising. The range is listed as 8500m but I could not find any information regarding "damage falloff start". The non-engineered 2A Guardian shard cannon has a damage falloff start of 1700m - the same as the maximum range! Does this mean the damage falloff start is 8500m for the engineered version?
 
126,900 credits to 'clean' the hot dirty module. And in the specs for my cg reward were:

74.5/S damage
3.7 damage
3.93MW Distrib draw
19.8 Thermal Load
91 Armor piercing
8,500M max range
6,296M/s shot speed

It looks like it runs a bit hot
 
Notably, the module from the Tech Broker is much weaker than from the CG.

I bought the latter from Prospect's Deep on Mbooni 3 a, and was expecting the first module.
Almost seems like a waste of mats now. So much energy draw and heat for so little gain.
 
The module description does make a point of telling you that the range is reduced from the prototype.
It's still much improved over the regular shard cannon.
