New Biological sites planet side not showing up in FSS?

An odd one this. I've been flying all over the Formidine Rift for weeks and visited literally many hundreds of systems. My FSS is picking up geo sites but not a single Bio site on any planets... Not a single one, in 'I've lost count how many' systems. I'm starting to believe that this is broken. I'm an experienced Explorer and I used to see bio sites a lot more frequently than this!
Are any others out in the black having similar issues with this?

Maybe. I'm in the same sector as well and haven't hit a single bio-signal. However that tends to be how my luck is when exploring anyway. I think I've found a total of five bio-signals that weren't first discovered by someone else the entire time I've been playing. I'm not sure if I'm not looking in the right areas for lifeforms or if I'm just having terrible luck.

They are there and still show up on the FSS, but sometimes you are in an area where the life forms just aren't as prolific as others, there aren't stars and planets with the correct conditions, it can go a long time between finding bio, then three show up at once!

It is intriguing! I have scanned 800+ systems all over the Formidine Rift area with zero Bio signals. I may pick one off of the Codex and fly there just to see if my FSS is working as intended as it is really unusual that I haven't found any at all out here when there are clearly some in the Codex.
That said - the Formidine Rift area does look very thing on the ground for Bio signatures!

No - but usually they show up in the what are you doing scan before you do a detailed surface scan!
I misread your first post but I just got back from exploring a couple days ago and they were showing up for me.
Maybe this issue, if an issue, just started.

As of about 1 minute previous to this post I can confirm that it is working fine for me, with 4 bodies in one system showing bio signals. And it is indeed the first I have seen for a few days but that's really not that unusual for some areas of the galaxy. There are areas I have been in where every second system has them, the do exist in high and low concentrations in different places.

The Rift is just a really bio-poor area I reckon. No nebulae so no bark mounds. Also, no blatteum bioluminescent pumpkins so that cuts out the vast majority of B stars in which you'd normally find bios. A more focused survey of B I, II, III, or VIs or Class Os might yield better results for those. I'd wager shards are the most common bio in the region, and those aren't wildly common to begin with. So happy hunting!

Chin up, OP! In the last 5 weeks out in Lyra's Song I've only found 1 Bio signal and 1 ELW. Slim pickings are part of the normal cycle - drought, flood, drought... Think of it this way: once a day you pass right next to a system with all you're hoping for. That's the trouble, though: you're next to it, not in it. Oh well.

Not only that, but you will pass through hundreds of empty completely unexplored systems full of balls of dead rock and ice, jump into a nice system with ELW, WW, bio and geo...and every one will have been found and mapped, then next jump you start again with the empty unexplored systems!

What Varonica says is true. I just recently got back from a short exploration and it was as describe.
What surprised me was the amount of first to find I had so near to the bubble.

That's all down to people setting filters to the most likely stars to have high value targets. While you can find ELW and WW around neutron stars, dwarf stars, just about anything really, if you really want to maximise your valuable finds you set to F type stars because they have most chance of having ELW's, and people end up skipping M, L, N and etc, leaving plenty for us who don't filter!
