New bug? Messed up camera view

Been noticing a recurring bug where my camera angle changes so dramatically, the bottom menu can no longer be accessed making choosing any of the options impossible. Mode flipping used to cure it, but not today and Im now stuck in the srv, parked beside my ship and I cant board it because I cant access the command menu...at all.

Relogging doesnt work, mode flipping doesnt work, in fact the only thing that appears to work is waiting half the day.

Meaning the game is currently unplayable fer me. Anyone else found this bug or is it new?

sorry , not new . Had it loads of times , only in the buggy on planet. Shutting down game and restarting was only curr. if that's not working for you send in a ticket.

At the launcher, there is no option to start non horizons...ergo it cant be done as far as I can see ^

Don't use it myself and not near my computer at the mo, but can you not set up a key to switch to look mode and change the view angle like that. I seem to remember there is a key bind for recenter view as well.

P.S. you should have an option to launch Elite Dangerous. With no mention of horizons. That will be the one you need. Launch that one and you will find yourself in the ship above the planet. Relaunch Horizons and you will still be in the ship.

P.P.S. Dam. Just seen the post above, so ignore my P.S.
Sorry.

The launcher is PC only.

Quitting the game at the dash and restarting is the only fix I know for this.

There is a bug report for this https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/412589-camera-position-bug-in-4k

Just as Im sitting here, it started ok on the 3rd complete restart...did a planetary scan and boarded ship np...then onto other side of planet fer another scan, and it bugged out trying to deploy srv so back to square one.

Sent in a ticket but if its not new, then what little hope I had just died ^

Ye guys get confused about what forum yer on?

Changing camera view doesnt work because the default view is now looking up as opposed to ahead...all changing the view does is change the view from that perspective as a baseline meaning its nigh on unplayable no matter what ye do ^

I don’t know xbox, but it sounds like headlook is going haywire. Is there a binding for headlook on xbox? Maybe you can toggle it on and move your camera? It just sounds like what happens when my headtracker goes off the rails.

There is a bind but it doesnt make any difference...after the view changes to the messed up version, everything ye do or look at is from that perspective which blocks about half the menu options entirely.

Anyway, Ive lost count how many times Ive tried restarting this morning...not gonna spend my free afternoon worrying about it, Ill try later maybe cos its just a waste of time atm ^

Well don't get your hopes up for a fix anytime soon.

The thread in the bug section that I posted in when it happened to me has a post from one of the QA team and they are unable to replicate the issues. So no replication means they have no idea what is causing the problem and therefore no idea how to fix it.

I had that happen some time ago, turned out it failed to load horizons. Did you get the Horizons menu or was the spinning Coriolis showing?
A reinstall of horizons fixed it for me.

I found a fix last night as it happens...in the end it was so simple, Im almost embarrassed to admit it openly...the meds are slowing me brain down methinks...

So anyway...as I sat there wondering what to do, I made the mental note that while I cant actually see the panel, the controls still work. So I did the usual button presses and deployed the srv and the camera position went back to normal automatically.

It works...no more restarts, no more cache clearing and thatll do the job until they get around to fixing it ^

Spinning coriolis and no, I didnt get the horizons menu...I did do a full reinstall of the entire game, but that made no difference at all. As above though, I found not so much a fix, but a viable workaround of the issue ^

This is a known bug, it can happen randomly when landing on planets. I've made a video of it, too, and submitted a bug report, but this issue has been in the game for quite long now. I'm not sure if they can fix it in 3.1.
