Really interesting stuff. Interesting that no one recommends the 1060. I don't hate the interim card with a 1080 one day idea either.
Is it considered them at the 1060 is a bad idea price wise or something?
The 1060 is an excellent card, you cant really go wrong selecting that or the RX480 from AMD. As both have very similar performance. One card will be a few frames better in some games and the other better in other games.
Both cards can pretty much handle all games at 1080p running 60 frames a second at ultra setting. At 1440p there will be some games that need settings tweaked, but they are still good enough to pretty much run at high settings.

Probably won't power VR reliably on 100% of titles, but it'll do well on many.
It's future proofed enough, as long as you expect high rather than Ultra. The 4Gb Ti version is the better buy and still cheaper than most GTX 960's with 2.

Are you sure, I just looked at my usual suppliers site, and for Gigabyte Windforce models (which I must assume are of similar construction) the RX 480 is the more expensive by all of £12.50.It's a decent card, if you overclock, but out of the box it's the same performance as an RX 480, but it costs more.
1070 is a huge step up and is probably the lower-high-end bang for the buck choice.

I just chose Gigabyte because it was near top of list, not necessarily because I favour them.

I definitely won't be buying an RX though. I'd feel like an idiot if something went wrong after reading "Elite is optimised for GTX" so many times.![]()

a 1080 or 1080 Ti competitor will need to wait until June).
What happens in June? Do we expect a price drop?
