One of the iterations on the Trailblazers update that I would love to see is an Architect Settlement; a true ground-based home base that would give the Commander who architected the system a place to call their own. Here's a suggestion of a few things that the settlement could offer out of the box:
A few thoughts about how the settlement would be built and behave:
It goes without saying that monetization opportunities will exist! Station/outpost skins/decals are already in development, who is to say we couldn't have skins/decals available for this settlement type? The availability of this proposed structure could itself be locked behind an ARX purchase?

- Refuel / Re-arm / Repair facilities
- *Habitation building for you to live in or host squadron mates and friends (good for the RP community!).
- *Personal landing pad(s)/hangar(s), locked to the owning commander.
- *Storage facility when in the hangar that can be used to offload inventory and cargo for safe keeping, locked to the owning commander.
- Bartender in a recreation building that can be used to sell your more valuable/in-demand items, useful for players who do not have an FC, or don't want to sell their wares via an FC.
- Admin contact of your own (think of it as a concierge in a hotel or office block?).
- The ability to set a trespass zone (or not), and have a standard defense system to repel trespasser.
- The ability to hire/employ armed NPCs of your own to defend the facility (proportionate to the size of the facility)
A few thoughts about how the settlement would be built and behave:
- Only one of these structures could exist, regardless of the number of systems owned by the commander/architect.
- This would be a structure that would require some effort to obtain, possibly a T3?
- The structure would be placed and configured through the existing UI that has just been released.
- Some kind of mechanic (such as attendance?) would be in place to ensure that the settlement stays in good shape; failure to meet the upkeep demands results in the facility gradually deteriorating and eventually becoming inoperative, requiring an effort to bring it back online.
- Question: would this live outside of BGS, or could it still be positively/negatively affected by BGS in some way?
