Yeah there are a lot of star systems so you can go a long time without seeing anyone in Open Play. I see more in Mobius and at least there they sometimes respond to you and definitely don't just "pull the plug" on seeing your hollow icon. The best way to have interative play with people is to join an active group / squadron or similar.

Of course you could go and fly around Borann or Deciat in Open Play if you want to see people - but be prepared to get hot real quick .

I'm in the same boat. I played when the game first came out then dropped it a month later. Too many things and not enough time. Plus I usually play solo and the game is much more fun with others so it just didn't seem worth my time. I picked it back up last week on a space game binge and I've stuck around but the size of the game makes it seem... dead. And there doesn't seem to be any real player tracking or communication. I've spent about 30 hours in the past week and seen 3 other people. One in passing. One when I was so bored I was talking to the automated cruise ship messages. And one that tried to gank me at a star. I thought it was another AI pirate interdicting me so I submitted and was muttering to myself, "I'm so gently caressing tired of you guys. Can't you just-" 1 volley knocks out my shields and 20% hp…. oh.

I joined up with a Squad from Inara, I think that is the best way to find people but there are certain systems that have players in there, I seen quite a few but not talked / flew with them yet. It is vast and majority empty but grouping is what makes it fun, and always flying in Open too ofc

Hello, I recently picked the game back up after trying it out years back.. I had gotten a HOTAS (X55) to play back then but was overwhelmed with the information and just.. Well scale of it.............

This is the exact same position I find myself in X55 and not play Elite since it basically came out.. I'm too in need of a good profile - as find the built in one not all that.. Hope this thread gets me back to enjoying the game as it should.. ps not read all thread yet so hoping it does

Using Sandcracka's bindings, which have been a huge help, I'm not sure how to reverse thrusters. Can anybody offer a suggestion? Thanks I followed the instructions earlier in this thread, to make the little slider on the throttle, control fwd/ref thrust. For some reason, the button in the...

I edited it a tiny bit from whatI found on the edrefcard, to just add free camera controls that work, otherwise so far I havent had 1 issue using the bindings and they seem pretty good once got the hang of it!

Edit: took a look at the second one you linked and damn thats a lot of buttons mapped, guess it covers everything to be done on the hotas while not needing to menu stuff a lot
