New Game For Frontier To Develop?

Hi guys.

Since the dawn of time, Tycoon games have taken all shapes and sizes... Theme Parks, Hotels, Casinos, Golf, Beach Resorts ect...

But one thing that's puzzled me, why hasn't there been on where you build a nightclub?

I personally would love to see The Sims 2 Nightlife turned into a stand-alone nightclub tycoon game. you know, the features and elements like the lighting rigs, sound system etc (the fact that you can create an amazing nightclub with this add-on pack.. really stylish, swish etc.. you'd have to see the screenshots of the one I have done to know what Im rabbling on about)

Any-ways, that's it

If i read right, basically a 'Tycoon' type of game that you would be able to make a night club with peeps coming in nightly, daily, or the like? If so, i think it would be rather interesting to see if it actually happens. Myself being a DJ and all, i think i would have some interest in getting it if it is also developed. :)

Personally, instead of soaked, how about a pumped up Waterpark Tycoon game where you can build hundreds of types of slides along with theming ect? - RCT3 Soaked lag, - RCT3 Soaked bad compatability issues, - RCT3 Soaked lack of slide types :) and - RCT3 Load times.

yeh.. a nightclub tycoon game where you create everything and have full control of size, positioning and size of dance floors, lighting rigs, bars, staff (bar staff, door staff, management), stocks (you could run out of drinks).. drinks promo's.. special promos (like showing the world cup or openning during the day) special events and guests (PA's from celebs and VIPs), choose the music styles and maybe have multiple rooms and floors of different music, promoting the club.. have massive Q's of people outside waiting to get it.

You know, litterally like an expansion on the freedom of The Sims Nightlife but integrated into a business strategy game.

Uhh, did you post in the wrong topic?

Anywhoo, sounds fun to me. although there might be a problem on how many attractions there can be. i mean how much can a night club really have?

Yeah, nightclubs are pretty much generic...but I suppose extras like DJing to please the punters (e.g. a bunch of goths walk in) or inventing your own cocktails and seeing how they go down...that would keep the game interesting...not that frontier development is in need of any advice on game design :D

I would like to have a Cinema Tycoon -> Build a cinema

Or..

A Funfair Tycoon:

- Start with a gambling den (or something cheap), minimal money.
- Travel around the country earning money
- Buy bigger rides, stores etc.
- Set up an empire!

Of course for PC!

Just an idea ;)

A tycoon game has to be as much fun to watch as to play, for when you're done building your amazing roller coaster on RCT3, then you get to ride it, or watch it go around. I enjoyed riding the coasters on RCT, it felt pretty realistic if you could have the graphics turned up. I can't play it tho cause i still have a mouse bug

The only tycoon game I wanna see is the original - Transport Tycoon / Locomotion given the the frontier treatment with the graphics and AI. I gotta say the idea of Locomotion made me wet myself with glee, but after a couple days, it didnt live up to expectation. There is SO MUCH MORE that can be done with that.......

Nightclub tycoon.... online

Why not add the ability to invite guests to your newly built club online (starting to sound more like Second Life). Then you could also invite DJ's to play on-line!! How cool would that be. You'd be getting virtual nightclubs with some top DJ's... it's bound to happen at some point.

heh - I dunno, there is something about the social interaction that you just don't get sitting in your living room. I'm also a DJ and personally can't stand either computer or CD DJs - it's a sell out - VINYL all the way, it actually takes some skill and is significantly more satisfying.

Hi,

Independent game developer Frontier is the latest company to join ELSPA, the UK's leading trade body for the games industry.
The Cambridge-based company, with a staff of more than 200, has notched up a string of gaming hits including BAFTA-nominated 'Dog's Life' and 'Wallace & Gromit in Project Zoo'. The company also made best-sellers 'RollerCoaster Tycoon 3', which was nominated for an award from the Academy of Interactive Arts Institute in North America, and 'Thrillville', as well as its equally popular sequel 'Thrillville: Off the Rails'. Its chart-topping launch title for Nintendo's WiiWare digital game download service, LostWinds, scooped the 2008 Develop Industry Excellence Award 'Best New IP' crown.
David Braben, the founder and chairman of Frontier, said: “From our point of view ELSPA addresses what we as game creators feel are the key strategic issues now facing us, including piracy, ratings and the pre-owned situation. We think it is vital that these issues are addressed swiftly and efficiently by the industry as a whole, and ELSPA is the representative body through which we will try to achieve this.”
Michael Rawlinson, Director General of ELSPA, said: “We are of course delighted that Frontier has joined our ranks and will be adding its impetus to that of our existing membership. Frontier not only develops games but also publishes some of these titles so it makes sense that it becomes an integral part of an organisation with the broad perspective of having almost two decades of representing publishers.”
Frontier is one of the world's leading independent game developers, having built upon the innovative creations of its founder David Braben. One of the industry's most respected games developers, Braben co-authored the seminal 'Elite' game with Ian Bell and he has just topped the Times Online list of the 'Ten Brits Who Changed Games Forever'. In 2005 Braben was awarded the Development Legend Award at the Develop Industry Excellence Awards.
Frontier is currently working on several projects, including The Outsider, an action thriller to be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and PC.

Yes, that is from a news-release that is on our website.

I have to confess I don't understand what you want to say by quoting it in full?

why don't just get out of your livingroom and join the real nightlife of your nearest city, you can meet real DJ's, Bodyguards or Celebrities and maybe you will become friends, for real, who knows.:)
