New Hardware Build - VR Setting Recommendations Please

First of all... Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all!

The family CFO (read as: wife) approved and surprised me with a great upgrade from my old AMD FX8320 system. So here's what I have to work with under the hood right now:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-CF Motherboard
16GB DDR4-2132 @ 1066 MHz Memory
ASUS Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB Video Card
Oculus Rift CV1 (Best Christmas Gift....ever)
(I will be attempting some CPU & GPU overclocking after the holidays when my time is not quite so divided)

Game is launched by either Oculus Home, or Dr. Kaii's EDP, same results either way.

I was dealing with the DK2 with my FX8320 so my experience was a bit underwhelming, but loving the CV1 as an upgrade itself.

So here's the problem, it would seem that even my DK2 graphics settings are having some glitches, hitches and pauses compared to the DK2. Here's what I've tried so far:

Dr. Kaii's ED Profiler Settings:

Can anyone recommend some settings? Do I need more DDR4 memory in the rig? (Video Card upgrade is going to be a little tough funds wise, I know it's only a 3GB video card)

Any input is greatly appreciated from all of your experience.

16GB RAM is fine. Which nvidia driver are you using? Some of the recent ones have caused the symptoms you describe in VR (even though fine in 2D). Try 2 or 3 different drivers. Also, turn off all the gaming mode/DVR stuff in Windows settings.

I have a GTX 1060 6GB and run the following:

Bloom = Off
Blur=Off
AA = FXAA
SS=0.75
HMD=1.25

If it's still not great try turning the Terrain settings to Med/Low

Hope that helps :)

Nvidia Driver: 388.71
Windows Gaming Bar/Gaming Mode: All Off and Unchecked

Change settings to VR Min.

Having MSAAx4 is your immediate issue. That's unneccesary and will use a lot of VRAM. Kill it.
Turn Bloom and DoF off.. you dont need those either.

To start with, reduce SS to 0.85 and HMD to 1.25.
Then increase other settings such as shadows, reflections etc. Leave AO off to start with, that also eats a lot of VRAM.

Don't forget to press CTRL+F to check your framerate on the normal monitor - in a station you want a steady 45, and ideally 90 as soon as you undock.

Increasing SS to 1.00 may be a little too much for your card, but try it, see how you go.
