New Horizons?

So, i am currently trying to locate the New Horizons probe in the game but i can't find it. even after searching the Wiki which pointed me in the right direction.

has the probe's position changed?

I'd like to visit the probe just as i have visited the voyager probe.

I just went there last night, and when I got to the right area, I found it in under 2 minutes, I think.

1. Enter Sol
2. Target: Praea Euq WC-N C9-0
3. Travel to 1,726,716 ls from Sol, toward above target.
4. Turn so that Sol is directly to your left (90 degrees), aiming towards the direction of Sedna.
5. Start flying at low speed while keeping Sol's distance close to 1,726,716 ls
6. Watch the left contacts panel for Ancient Probe.

Found it super quickly that way. But that also had some luck, since it meant my flight toward that star system was pretty spot on, and probably isn't repeatable like that. Once you're in the right area, these distances should help, but will have changed slightly:

Sol: 1,726,716 ls
Sedna: 1,526,496 ls
Persephone: 1,881,157 ls

I didn't think to grab updated distances while I was there.

Nice, I followed the directions provided by the Wiki with the updated (as of may 18th) distances. but I will give your method a try tomorrow, thanks!

Cool, yeah just keep in mind that I lucked out with the positioning. You may have to circle around a bit, but if you can get that distance from Sol fairly precisely, and get within those ballparks of the other bodies, you should be able to find it. Good luck!

well i am spot on for the Sol distance, within 5 ls distance from Sedna and 21 LS from the Persephone distance and the probe is a no-show.... damn this is a difficult probe to locate.... :(

Yeah, I figured things have probably moved a bit, since those number date back to April I think. The distance from Sol should be good, so it'll probably require spiraling around, keeping that distance from Sol constant, and move slowly. Out here you travel at about 1600c, and can only see objects within 1000ls, a distance that you'll cover in well under a second at full speed. At 500c it might stay in the navigation panel for at least a few seconds when you get near it, so I'd probably treat that as an upper limit and try to go slower than that.

yeah, i try to keep a speed of 15 -30 c. too bad there are not any more distance sets to help figure out at which rate the probe is speeding away from the solar system. I think i might go back to doing other things in elite and visit the probe some other time. thanks for the tips though!
