The idea of "New Currency" vexes me greatly...
If Horizons is any indication then that 'old' players get the middle finger and have to fight ridiculously buffed bulletsponges, just because they have a higher combat rank or similar ollecks.I think that decision is good. Probably FDevs took at consideration that old players could have a huge advantege on new ones. Imagine gankers with a load of credits and materials able to quick upgrade their suits. They could start the hunting season short after starting the Odyssey.
Second reason is that Odyssey will need an engament in gameplay from the large number of players, those with 4000 hours in Elite and those with 200 hours.

I wonder... If we all remember when Frontier asked for our Holo-me portraits? Perhaps they will be using them on the NPC's in Odyssey? After all, we spend time to make 'ourselves' how we wish to look![]()
Gentlemen, look is not important. Love! Love is more important.
This is an autenthical screen from the game

Huh, that's a great train of thought. Have players submit pics of themselves, which will generally be non-fugly faces, then FDev can extract the settings used from entrant-players' profiles and analyse it for "what makes NPCs not fugly" info/patterns, and chuck that info into Odyssey's NPC generator. It may have been missed by your good self:

"Lol NPCs ugly guise"
Seriously though, look around. The NPCs are only a little uglier than the average overworked middle-aged commuter you'll see on public transport or idling next to you at a red light. And they don't live in a high radiation environment.
Elite isn't a glamour game. In real life, most pretty 20 year olds with dainty bone structure and perfect facial symmetry are working in H&M or doing beauty therapy. The person checking in cargo at a freight dock or handling fines at a cash desk is more likely to be pushing 50, worry-lined, a bit overweight, drinks too much... Certainly in a dystopian universe like Elite.
its not the 'uglyness' its just the unrealisticness of them i have issues with.
i.e. nothing wrong with this middle aged chap here, (not elite unfortunately)

i just think the folks at FDev should take some time bringing key characters "to life" rather than using ones they clearly have spent 5 minutes making, you only have to look at peoples holome's to see the possible quality already built into the game.
Get away with your comedy scam. Video game spaceships don't cost thousands of real life dollars.

...i would have picked any of the CMDRs in https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/send-us-your-holo-me.538984 but didnt want to single out a holome, or cause offence, but there's some fantastic examples in there.

They said in the dev diary "relatively cheap fee", so probably not a lot.And while we're asking questions - just in case they decide on the transfer time for Axi or wasname the leg taxi was called - last time they pondered about "ship transfer" they forgot to mention the cost and it turned out quite substantial. I'd like to know about that too for Axitaxi.
What's the ratio of Flimley Points to Stanley Nickels?I can’t understand why the new currency isn’t based on flimley points? I’m so sad.
flimley
That's Liam Cunningham / Noah White right? Most actors look better than the average normal life person...its not the 'uglyness' its just the unrealisticness of them i have issues with.

Well I agree that NPCs need some love.dont know? but not true at all, again just an example of a "real world face" nothing to do with being 'beautiful' just realistic, and authentic. Human if you like.
