New Mining Ship for Beyond - Looking for feed back before purchase

Make sure to find the best place to sell :D
I sold my Opals for 1.65 million each and the diamonds for 1.2 million each ( slightly lower than I could have sold them for but I factored in the convenience of selling both at the same station for near current highest price )

I have passed on what I have learned to my son. He has gone in the last few hours from just 11 million credits to 140 million credits in this:

Which I designed for him to be within his budget, cheap to re-buy if he did get popped and would quickly pay for itself.

He drives me crazy though because he plays in open only. I'm not telling any of you guys where though!

You're a good mum!

Tell him to ditch the SRV for another collector controller.

Had a minor panic when I hit the landing gear button in the mouth of the station and got caught up on the cage. Thankfully I shook free and landed safely and became 135 million richer!

That is one reason I never deploy the gear until I am inside. That looks like a good haul. I start getting a bit nervous at the 24 item mark and have a tendency to leave. Looks like i may want to stay and find more.

I find that when I jump into a hotspot ( doesn't matter where ) ships will spawn with me. These ships are invariably after my cargo so I let them spawn in and scan me.

Always around three of four of them will appear and then I start boosting away - If I have cargo they will send hatch breaker limpets after me but that's where the speed of my ship comes in handy (351/480 m/s ) and I can outrun them / get out of control range before they get to me.

After traveling about 150km at boost I then slow down and start mining. I will not be bothered again by NPC ships in this session, no matter how much cargo I build up, unless I leave the belt/ring and return.

I now have 136 tons of cargo space having sacrificed my scoops and SRV bay for cargo bays and net 220 million for a session if I'm feeling dedicated.

I hope I've given you more idea on how to avoid unwanted npc attention.

Great advice. That's a long way to go before you start mining though, you only need to go far enough to be out of sensor range. 150 km is way, way, way out of sensor range though.....you're just an over-achiever!

to be fair im guessing at the distance because i have no frame of reference with which to judge it. it's around 15 to 20 boosts at 480 m/s perhaps I over do it but I'd rather be sure and the hotspots are very large.

Told yeah this would happen. :D
somewhere prior in this forum actually.

Good job on the profits and building the Cobra III biased on what you have learned
Regarding the NPC's most of the time they are not very strong, but that is relative to your combat capabilities.

PVP without engineering will be a quick rage quit.
ED is flooded with grind loops, nature of the game. but not the type of grind that normally annoys me in other games.
Collecting materials does not have to be a grind, play the game as normal and pick up bits and bobs along the way doing whatever game loop you prefer.
when you are ready to unlock engineers you will have a good pool of material to get started.
In addition material collection has become far less "grindy" with the mat trader and USS updates compared to how it was prior.

Given your budget, I agree with most who are voting for the Krait mkII. You can kit it for the job within you budget as long as you D rate it.

Thank you. I did indeed go with the Krait and my budget is now well over a billion. I had it A rated on all core systems, bar life support, and on the Shields within my budget. It does well. It has the legs to outrun any NPC and the skin to take a few hits if need be.

The Cobra build was for my son who had an 11,000,000 budget ( he's now catching up with me fast in a Krait himself ).

I love my Speedy Krait II. I looked at the Type 9 Heavy but I really don't have the patience to fill it in one session and multi sessions would require it to be fast enough to outrun hatchbreakers and npc pirates and I just can't be bothered trying to get one to do that.

I will stick with my Shocking Pink Krait II.
