New Modern/Flat UI?

I saw the new video ('Dev Diary #2 - Rewarding Creativity') on Youtube yesterday and I was blown away by the visuals! It's amazing to see such a good game in pre-alpha! In that video I saw some gameplay and I think the UI wasn't that great. It probably won't be the definite design, but it would be great if it will be improved. For example, I like the UI of 'Zoo Tycoon (Xbox One)' a lot. It is very clean and easy to use, I hope you can improve it a bit! The design of your videos and video's is great, so I was a bit disappointed to see such a UI, but I guess it was a 'quickly developed' UI.

By the way, I absolutely love your game, pre-ordered it today!

Thanks for reading!

I like the first better. The second one is to big.

It very well could be just a placeholder UI as well. I like the way it looks. In games like this a minimalistic look is always prefered.

I like the UI as it is now. It's inbetween 'playful' and 'simple' and I think that's perfect. Of course there will be changes. But I'd rather want this style than Zoo Tycoon Xbox.

Personally I love it, very simple and yet very very usable looking. I think its a great move and feel so far.

As long you do not have to click click click click click look search click click when you could click and done.. I am happy. ;) Plus the keyboard integration.

Ok, it seems like you all already like the UI, but what about this?

*the scale is not right obviously, so ignore that*

Let's hear it, what do you think? What would you change? What's great? What sucks?
Together we can make this game the best ever!

Thanks for replying!

I think the interface looks good how it is. So no changes PlanetCoaster maked it good.

I always want the option to do whatever i want and very symmetrical. With the system showed here and that of RCTW it looks amazing.

I have to complaints about the UI seen in the video. Also, please try to remember that the game still has a full year of development left and there is no doubt that tweaks and changes will be made.

This looks not great at all and very non intuitive to play with a ui like that!

Why not making it like a windows taskbar with an action center like win10?

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the feedback. I've combined several ideas of you: more contrast, smaller (more suited for PC), no click click click click click look search click click when you could click and done..

So, here it is:

I personally appreciate the current UI, but I think we can make it 'wow' if we combine all our ideas.

Oh, and an option to search, so it's much faster than scrolling.
OH!! In Anno 2050 (perhaps the older as well, I don't know) they had sort of a 'quick menu' for buildings. Drag-and-drop the pieces you need quick access to at the moment.

So instead of opening the menu all the time, or leaving a big chunk of the screen locked in with a ton of UI, it would be a breath of fresh air to have 5-10 slots where you can temporary save building blocks. Straight walls, walls with windows, corners etc. Fast building, fast iteration, without the UI coming in the way.

Great idea!
