Hardware & Technical New phone-hopefully not a mistake

I'm cheap (for some things). I'll admit it. Especially when it comes to what amounts to disposable electronic devices.

I've been using the Honor 5X for a while now.
It's was a decent phone, but cpu has been showing its age. Because huawei hasn't updated the OS, I put lineageOS on it, which the h-ware has a hard time with.
Things take a long time to load.
So I bought a S8+ international version.

Someone tell my inner Scotsman I made the right choice, he wanted me to buy a used one.

Only you can say really...does it do all the things you want it to do?

For example I have a cheapo LG K4 2017 that I bought brand new for 100$CAD and I am super happy with it, I can make phone calls and it's super clear, I can send texts, watch youtube videos.... atleast where there is free wifi as I'm a real cheapo and don't have data enabled...in essence it does what an old guy like me does with his phone make phones calls and basically replaces the random phone booths that used to be around so much.

For my part I have a Samsung SGH-X640 that I bought new in 2005.

I could use it to go on the internet (with the "w a p" Navigator :p) but I prefer my PC connected with the fiber optics.

:)

Hahah yea. I have 3 PC's at the house so they are what I use for gaming, movies tv etc etc

The phone is for calls, as it's unlimited calling province wide for 25$, is just for when not in the house and maybe we get a small data add on if we go on vacation and want to be able to connect to the web for w/e. I mean the car has a gps so dont really need it for that kind of thing.

Oh and we use it often to take pictures instead of lugging around or getting out our proper camera.

I was eyeing the xiaomi series, I don't remember why I didn't go with it.

I've been a staunch phone dinosaur until 2 or so years ago. As in I wouldn't buy, or spend money on them.
However, firing up Waze, and having it calculate the best route to some pimple of a town where my kid(s) have to go to some sport activity is pretty impressive.
I also use a self directed trading platform that is accessible on the phone for when another service I use posts a trading tip by txt.
